I purchased a 2010 Volkswagen Eos Convertible from Dave Walter in July 2012. I haven't had the car a year and it is nearing 38,000 miles. I received absolutely no follow up calls, letters, or emails rega Walter in July 2012. I haven't had the car a year and it is nearing 38,000 miles. I received absolutely no follow up calls, letters, or emails regarding my purchase...no one seems to care about whether I liked this car or not. I also purchased the extended warranty on the car because the finance manager (Bruce) said that it would cover absolutely everything on the convertible top and I quote "Do you know how expensive it is to repair something on the convertible top if it were to break?" So, I took my car in for an oil change (Mentor Volkswagen, not Dave Walter) and there is a small flap on my convertible top that is now "broken", it doesn't (yet) effect the top actually functioning, but it looks silly and it is not the aesthetic look that I should have with this car. I asked the dealer to fix this also and gave him the info on my extended warranty. Well guess what, my "Extended Warranty" DOES NOT COVER THE CONVERTIBLE TOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This small part will set me back $1,500.00 to replace. I could not be more angry that I was lied to and convinced to purchase this useless warranty ($2,500) that bumped my payment up $30 a month. I called and spoke with Joe the sales manager and he kept promising to call me back, never received any calls back, when I finally called back myself they gave me Bruce the finance manager. He was rude to me beyond belief, he was condescending and had me in tears by the end of the conversation. I asked why no one called me back and he had the audacity to ask if I would prefer he hang up and call me back....REALLY?!? He told me he "knows his product" and would have never told me that warranty covered parts it did not...well, he did. It's amazing how nice they are when you are signing your life away to buy a $30,000 car...then when something goes wrong they are nastier than a bully in middle school. I love my VW Eos and will find a way to have it repaired for less than the $1,500 they are asking, but I will NEVER buy another VW product again. I also kept asking how to be refunded for the extended warranty since it is useless to me (It only covers up to 76,000 miles anyways.) Bruce kept evading the question and using his condescending tone about it. Stay far away from this dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will NEVER sign another car document without reading the fine print again... More

I asked that the service people look at the middle panel where lights were out - where the climate control and fan are. They said they were working. They are not. This was my first visit to Dave Walter VW. As I entered, I was immediately greeted very warmly by the owner himself. The salesperson I was to meet with had called off sick but he got me hooked up with Aaron I was immediately greeted very warmly by the owner himself. The salesperson I was to meet with had called off sick but he got me hooked up with Aaron. I was impressed at how the owner of the company was so involved without being overbearing or bossy. Aaron greeted me with a friendly smile and handshake and had the car I was going to test drive within a reasonable time. After pulling the Pontiac G6 around he calmly invited me to check the car out before the test drive. What I liked about this was Aaron didn't stand over me and sales talk me. In fact he waited inside for a few minutes until I was ready for the test drive. After driving the car I knew I wanted to purchase the car if we could agree to a price and finance rate that would work for both parties. Aaron was very relaxed and cool during the whole process. So much so that I kept thinking something might be up that would surprise me and make me stress over my decision. This never happened and in the end I got a very clean car for a very satisfactory price. I also liked how the extended warranty option was left up to me without pressure or pushy persuasion. I can tell you without a doubt that I have never had such a pleasant experience and that Dave Walter VW, and Aaron will be my first choice the next time I'm in need of another car. I agree, Dave Walter's customer service is TERRIBLE! I I agree, Dave Walter's customer service is TERRIBLE! I sent them an e-mail on their web site, addressed to Mr. Walter. I never heard from anybody. I agree, Dave Walter's customer service is TERRIBLE! I sent them an e-mail on their web site, addressed to Mr. Walter. I never heard from anybody. I had to have my car towed in for brakes locking up on Thanksgiving eve! When they finally got my car on Friday, their answer was that it worked fine when my car got there. They didn't even put it up on the rack to look at the brakes! I was told by Andy just to not use my parking brake. WHAT????? I spoke with Joe Dyer. He pretty much blew me off, telling me that VW wouldn't pay them to look at my brakes. This past week end, my brakes have started to screech (that high pitch sound when the rotors are wearing down). I called to speak with Joe. He was out so I was offered the opportunity to leave him a message on his voice mail. His message says "I WILL CALL YOU BACK AT MY EARLIEST CONVIENCE". WHAT????? What customer service! I AM SO SORRY I PURCHASED MY CAR AT DAVE WALTER. More
I wouldnt recommend this dealership to a person if I hated them. - Tony B writes on my Facebook wall Wow I have no idea who Lenny is but I agree with him 1000%... Your customer service sucks! I woul hated them. - Tony B writes on my Facebook wall Wow I have no idea who Lenny is but I agree with him 1000%... Your customer service sucks! I would never buy from you! I work customer service and if I treated our customers like that... I would be fired! And to act like that on Facebook... I have a feeling you will have more people who will never walk through your doors! - Kristy H. Writes on THEIR Facebook wall about my story in regards to the is dealership. WHY? I had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with a women by the name of Renee Pagler. I say unfortunate because her behavior as a person in "management" is on the same level as abusive and volatile. I had my car (a 2010 VW GTI) towed into Dave Walter VW Tuesday night because it suddenly stalled on the highway. Before it stalled - I was out to dinner with my friends after a few rough couple of days dealing with personal health issues. After dinner myself and my friends (Part of a rather large VW Community) are all talking outside. I am rather cold so I start my vehicle up while we are all outside talking and wanted to heat my vehicle up. As I start the car, we all hear a little rattle coming from the engine… It was enough that we all looked at the hood at my car, but did no further investigation on the vehicle because it stopped. As we leave, myself and 2 others are riding in my car and I notice the rattle again except this time louder, I turn down the radio, and as my passenger, does he hear this, and he said yes. So we pulled off the road and into a gas station. My passenger and friend/roommate said it sounded like a lifter and tell me that it could be low on oil. (I didnt think that was the case considering the car was in the shop recently for a previous serious motor issue 2 weeks after I purchased it and had this dealership do the services and oil change not too long ago) So they add oil and the rattling noise stops. I tell my passengers to ride in my roommates car because one had to be at work, and I plan on nursing the car back home. As I am on my way home, I hear the rattling noise again, and as I start to pull off the road, the rattle noise turns into a large "CLUNK" noise with a sound of metal that I can hear from the front of the car to the back. I called Road Side Assistance, they came out to pick up my car, we notice oil on the ground under my car. I have the car towed to Dave Walter VW. The next morning 10/10/2012 - I go into the dealership where I am well known by everyone there… I talk to the service manager (Jeff Tolar) asking questions about my car and inquire about a loaner so that I can make it to important medical appointments and my job. Jeff told me that they didnt have any loaners there to loan me (1st) then after explaining theres a hole in my engine, and telling me that the word around the dealership is that I abused my car - he says that Dave Walter is not wanting to give me a loaner because the last time I had a loaner, I didnt return it. In fact, I did not return the last loaner. I was admitted, sick in the hospital, while they were working on my car from the first engine failure. I did call the dealership however, and ask them if it was alright to have a friend of mine drop off the car and pick my car up which was ok'd. They tell me that they would have never told me that… I said then we would have a different issue on our hands… because if they never ok'd for me to have my friend bring them their loaner and pick up my car - that means they just gave the keys to my car to my friend without my prior authorization… (which everyone seems to understand except the mindless folks at DWVW) Jeff proceeds to tell me that he doesnt listen to the word around the dealership but VW came out took pictures and are investigating the vehicle and also made mention that theres no proof of abuse. Jeff ends the conversation telling me that he was going to be at training in Columbus, but would still be contact with VW about my car and try to work something out as far as a loaner. 10/11/2012 - I return to the dealership with a friend and Renee ask me if she could help me. I told her I was there to inquire about a loaner, and her demeanor immediately became aggressive stating that he is not giving me a loaner because the last time she gave me a loaner, I didnt bring it back - your friend did… (Is it me or didnt we already go over this) after AGAIN stating what I said before about the car situation, she says Personally, I dont feel comfortable about giving you a car. and refers to the repairs of my car. I informed her it wasn't her place (as she said many times, she no mechanic) but the place of VW to determine. At some point my friend steps outside who later told me that he had to leave the place because I was about to step in… (a person who has been in management for the past 8 years) I ask to speak to a manager (someone over her) and she takes me to Joe Dyer - I ask to speak to him in his office as there have been other clients sitting around the dealership and already heard the abusive tone and behavior of Renee. We sit behind closed doors where I tell him the situation about the car being brought back by me and he states he understands that. I tell him whats been going on in my life the past couple of weeks - basically opening up to someone human to human thinking they had some compassion. He tells me to hold on and he would talk to Renee. Later he returns and tells me basically the rules are the rules and I broke them by having my friend return the car. I ask him if we ALL could sit down and talk (Myself, Joe, and Renee). Renee comes into the office with Joe, and I talk to her person to person and explain to her my situation. How Ive been sick, (most of the people at this dealership know me and know my battle with Cancer) How Ive been having a rather difficult time, and how I have been having a rather difficult time getting to see a doctor that was willing to help me. I told her that I finally had appointments with new doctors in Cleveland (about an hour away) at a new cancer facility and this is NOT the time to not have a car. I also tell them that if I had been told in no way shape or form that I was to not have my friend bring the car in last time, I wouldnt have done so. I plea with her that I need a car to make these appointments…. and all she can say after I open up is "we have no loaners to loan… sorry". As a show of good faith, I shake Renees hand, and thank her for her time, and ask her to please let me know when she hears something… (which oh - by the way - Jeff told me he would have heard something the day he was in training. Renee told me she would know something later that day and we are 2 days later and still have had no contact with anyone) I called VW Customer Care - the first thing I tell them is I am not trying to get anyone in trouble, but told them my experience and they made the recommendation that I contact road side assistance and have my car towed to Brunswick Auto Mall. Which did take place - I met the owner who was very nice and happy to help me the best way he could. I also met a lady by the name of Kathy Pons who stayed 3 hours past her shift to make sure that I was taken care of… - little plug - Brunswick is taking very good care of me - but then again - ANYONE would have been better compared to what you've read do far. 10/12/2012 - I return to the dealership because I am still very upset about the behavior of mainly Renee this time with my partner. I ask for the owner (Dave Walter) who I have personally met, had to pleasure of shaking his hand, and sitting in his office. We are told that he is across the street at the BMW dealership. So we head over to the BMW Dealership and ask for Dave there and I am told that he would be right back… We waited for about 20 - 30 minutes and just ended up leaving my number there asking him to please contact me about a matter that needs to be brought to his attention and was willing to meet face to face if he accepted. Before I head home, I went back to the VW dealership and saw his car parked in his normal usual parking spot (that wasn't there before) So when I walked back in, I asked to speak to Dave. The person I am speaking to now is Matt Pitzo who rather than getting Dave or even Joe, he gets Renee. The first thing she says is What do you want in the same aggressive abusive tone as the day prior with potential customers on their sales floor watching the entire situation. I said that I am here to talk to Dave. She said I'm Daves daughter, I am not going to get fired. I replied that I was not trying to get anyone fired and she cuts me off and says that according to her sources (her sources?) I am trying to get her fired. My partner, obviously annoyed steps in and says Ok, I'm his partner, and he has never mentioned to me or anyone that he is trying to get you fired. Meanwhile, I have a guy (unknown) to my right, Joe (the sales manager) to my left, and Renee directly in front of me with my partner directly next me with us practically cornered with our backs against the desk. Renee proceeds to tell me that my car is no longer here so I have no business here, I said my car is no longer here because of the way you are talking to me now. I look to the guy (unknown) on my left and ask him if he hears the way she is talking to me and of course probably afraid of being fired, he says he has no input on whats going on here (then why are you standing here went across my mind). I a told that Dave Walter is retired and he no longer sees people… and If I want to talk I take it up with the three that were surrounding us. I simply tell her this is not over and leave. I have since called VW Customer Care and asked to speak to someone about this situation. As a person that is loyal to the brand owning 3 VW's, founder of a rather large VW and Euro car group based in their backyard that has been supportive to their dealership regardless of what Ive heard in the past about this place (and seriously, Google Dave Walter VW and you will be see PLENTY of bad reviews about this place) and sent plenty of people to see the sales team, you would think a person would franchise would be loyal to the people that were loyal to them. I have seen many people in my club leave the brand because simply put - Renee. People that have stood in my shoes before that have been loyal to the name and run a Euro based club as well now own a Lexus or a Honda and when I asked them why, the said the service department at Dave Walter VW is the reason I will never own a VW… They know who they are (the dealership) and these people (that were once loyal to the brand and dealership) left because of this dealerships Service department. My next stop from here…. BBB… You have been warned - PLEASE do your own homework, if you think this story is far fetched and crazy - it is… I am in shock that a person such as Renee can live with herself treating people in such a manner…. Do some research - you will surely see there are other dealers out there that sell VW's and I promise you that you will be way better off with a even a slight increase of treatment. Just look at the Service reviews on this site alone…. These are people that are under warranty and are treated like CRAP - STEER CLEAR OF THIS DEALERSHIP! More
Bought a used Routan from a different dealer, also paid for an extended warranty. Check engine light was coming on intermittently, so we took it to the dealer on a Friday. Since the van was still covered for an extended warranty. Check engine light was coming on intermittently, so we took it to the dealer on a Friday. Since the van was still covered under the factory warranty, they took it to Dave Walters. It was determined that a faulty EGR valve was the cause. However, the part had to be ordered, and would not be in until Tuesday. The dealer we bought if from was kind enough to give us a loaner for the weekend, however I needed to retrieve some things from the van. I got over to Dave Walters late Friday afternoon, where the service staff tended to ignore me and carry on personal conversations. Once Gary was back from moving cars around, I explained who I was (the other dealer had called ahead). I had to hurry to follow Gary through the garage area, as he wasn't very communicative. Halfway through the parking lot, he clicked the button to unlock the van and returned inside. I grabbed several items from the rear, and with arms loaded transferred the items to the loaner. I picked the van up Tuesday afternoon, and Tuesday evening, we discovered almost $500 worth of items missing (GPS, headphones, sunglasses, chargers, movies). In the end, Gary claims to have locked the van, although I didn't see him do so, and can't understand how anything could be missing. Jeff doesn't return phone calls and claims that they don't have cameras to verify my story. Basically, either I'm lying, the other dealer did it (who had the car less than 3 hours in 5 days), or they aren't responsible anyway (the other dealer signed the repair waiver). Didn't even offer an apology or condolences. Either they failed to properly secure the van, or they have a thief on their staff. If you are forced to use this dealer for service, be very careful of any valuables you may leave in the car. More

We have been looking for a used 2011 jetta tdi for about a month now and we visited quite a few dealerships to test drive a few and check out prices and what the value of my trade-in was. After having a cou a month now and we visited quite a few dealerships to test drive a few and check out prices and what the value of my trade-in was. After having a couple deals not go thru due to the lack of customer service and the vehicle not being quite what I was looking for, we came upon a 2011 jetta at Dave Walter volkswagen of Akron. My boyfriend contacted the dealership and talked with Frank Waldo at the beginning of the week and today, Saturday, we drove over 300 miles from Michigan, to come pick up the jetta. I can say that we have never dealt with a more courteous and helpful salesman from beginning to end. Frank was such a pleasure to work with. I cannot thank him enough. It makes a world of difference when you are in the car buying process and dealing with someone as great as Frank versus a salesman that is just in it to get that car sold. The process was smooth and simple and the finance manager also made the experience great. This is my first volkswagen and I can confidently say that because of the experience I had with Frank, and the rest of the staff as well, I will be giving Frank a call for my next car purchase and recommending him and the dealership to everyone! Thanks again! More
I blame nothing on Randy in regards to any of this, he did his job to his best ability, and was friendly for the little bit of time I dealt with him. I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned 2007 Jetta GLI at did his job to his best ability, and was friendly for the little bit of time I dealt with him. I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned 2007 Jetta GLI at Dave Walter, the car has since turned out to be a Lemon. The vehicle was clearly "certified" in a fraudulent manner by their service department. I live out of state, and drove 2 hours to buy the vehicle. I got there, car was somewhat clean, but not "detailed" like it should have been. The car ended up having a scratched and damaged windshield, but looked like dead bug streaking. The headliner material fell down within 4 weeks of ownership. The ignition switch failed and left me stranded, but VW roadside helped me with that! The engine wiring harness failed and left me stranded, 3 weeks later the car was fixed, without a rental! Vacuum lines were cracked and seperated on the motor, they were replaced under CPO warranty. Blower motor was making terrible noise, the pollen filter was replaced b/c it was totally clogged with debris, should have been done at scheduled maintenance but was never done. CPO checklist states "all maintenance must be up to date" my car has had ZERO maintenance since 5,000 miles, verified through my local dealer and VW corporate. My DSG service on the transmission was never performed and I have to pay ~$400 service for that out of my pocket. Car appears to maybe been in a wreck, some rust on bolts on the inside of the door as well as a bad alignment which destroyed my tire within 4,000 miles, paid out of pocket to repair. I would NEVER buy another car without having a pre purchase inpsection by an outside source. CPO or not, do not trust a dealer to actually certify the vehicle, there is a handful of issues with this car that were "overlooked" on the CPO checklist, which makes me thing the car was never even properly certified and Dave Walter just lied to VW for the warranty. What use is the warranty when your car needs to be serviced once a month! this car is a lemon and was NEVER properly inspected! More
