I feel I owe it to anyone I know in the KC area to warn you to not buy a car from Robert Brogden's Olathe Kia. We just experienced a stereo-typical bait and switch scenario where we were promised a car at you to not buy a car from Robert Brogden's Olathe Kia. We just experienced a stereo-typical bait and switch scenario where we were promised a car at a certain price and once we were locked in the price was changed significantly. Then, the GM had the audacity to tell us that we didn't understand the math. I may be lacking in many areas of life, but very basic math skills are definitely not an issue for me. If you are in the market for a new car I highly recommend protecting your bank account and sanity by shopping elsewhere. Hopefully their smarmy business practices will put them out of business shortly. More Info: For anyone who wants the sordid details (or to see if I truly know basic math), here is more info. A couple of months ago we went into the dealership looking for a Carnival Van. We had done our homework and understood they were hard to find - even used ones are hard to find! The sales guy was helpful and said they have a deal where people can buy a different model (like a Sorento) while the Carnival is being built. Once the Carnival arrives, we can return the Sorento (which will not depreciate) for a full refund (including taxes which would apply to our new purchase). We went through the paperwork in detail with the finance person. We took hours reviewing through everything and asking very detailed questions. She explained all of the legalese to us and we were comfortable with the process. Yesterday our van finally arrived and we were so excited - we usually purchase used cars so picking out the color and stuff was kind of exciting. Unfortunately it all went south once we started on the paperwork. Apparently the mark up on the Carnivals has gone up the past few months. While we did have a signed contract saying we would make the swap - the legalese made the numbers unclear and it turns out that the finance person misled us in the extreme (this is a place where we erred - I should have insisted on more in writing that we had). Instead of returning the Sorento (I am rounding most of these numbers) for the purchase amount ($41,700 + $899 contract fee (which was clearly explained would be returned), and taxes) and purchasing the Carnival for $42,000 we had to return the Sorento for $37,000, pay another $899 contract fee, and purchase the Carnival for $45,000). I know I am female, but pretty sure that is an $8,600 difference. The General Manager kept explaining that I just did not understand, and it was only a $3,500 difference. I kept pushing back and he finally acquiesced that I was correct - so in addition to using bait and switch tactics, he outright lied to us. Also, I did call around as we were 100% charged way more than the car is worth. Additionally, when we asked if we could take 24 hours to think about such a big decision we were told that they would just sell the van to someone else after we waited 2-3 months. Pressure like that is obviously a big red flag! In the end, our options were to return the Sorento and be out nearly $5k in taxes and fees, suck it up and pay the extra $8,600 for the van, or keep a car that does not work for our family. Hopefully my cautionary tale can help at least one person. It is frustrating in our society that you expect to be screwed when purchasing a car, but this was a terrible experience and I cannot recommend enough that potential buyers avoid Robert Brogden's Olathe Kia - there are lots of other dealerships in the area and hopefully they are more honest. I've done business here a few times and I must say that the experience gets better each time. If you're in the market for a new car, I highly recommend coming here and talking to their staff. I had the ple the experience gets better each time. If you're in the market for a new car, I highly recommend coming here and talking to their staff. I had the pleasure of working with Allen Aikens. I appreciate that he reached out to me and answered all of my questions and invited me to come into the dealership. I also had the pleasure of working with Spencer, Christopher Craig and Phil Skid. The entire team was amazing to work with! They listened to everything I had to say and what I was looking to accomplish, provided options, and went above and beyond to meet all of my needs! They are friendly, knowledgeable and customer focused. I visited over 10 different dealers within the last 2 weeks, and Robert Brogden's blew every single one of them out of the water! It was an experience that I'll never forget. Thanks so much for reaching out to get the ball rolling, Allen! The team is absolutely amazing! More
Absolutely horrible communication. We ordered a Telluride, and purchased a Telluride to drive in the meantime to use with their 90 day money back guarantee. At the end of the 90 days, We ordered a Telluride, and purchased a Telluride to drive in the meantime to use with their 90 day money back guarantee. At the end of the 90 days, we were told our Telluride was never ordered, and our salesman is no longer with the company. Great. At that point, we traded it in for a 23 Kia Sportage. Drove 3 hours to get it, and have hated it since day 1. Awesome on the outside, extremely basic on the inside. Not their fault, but just a bad purchase. They messed up the paperwork and we ended up having to purchase new license plates too. What is their fault though, is that they never activated our warranty. So after 3 months goes by and I get a crack in the windshield, I can't use my warranty. The windshield has been cracked for 2 weeks now, and I have lost hours of my time and years of stress off my life just trying to get in contact with these people. Their phones DO NOT WORK. I'll get connected with someone, and they'll transfer me and it says "mailbox full". Or I'll have someone leave a message for me, and they won't call back. The only time I have gotten to speak with someone was right before closing - I spoke with Chris in Finance, and he said he'd promise to get this resolved the next morning...yea, he didn't call back. My ONLY communication with this place has been through emailing Nathan, our sales person. I have asked him countless times to have someone call me and he just simply won't. I am now playing middle man between the Kia dealership that is going to fix my windshield, and Robert Brogden who will be paying out of pocket. Did you get the invoice? Have you paid the invoice? They said you haven't paid it. "It's been received and paid." Then I call the other dealership...nope, it hasn't even been opened. I mean come on - I feel like a babysitter. And I do have a life....a job...more important things to do than try to call the dealership all day. Just fix my windshield. I will be trading in this car with another dealership ASAP, as soon as this problem is fixed. I will not waste another second of my time on them. Absolutely poor communication. Do better. Edit to add: I was given the sales managers direct line, and when I called him he completely chewed me out. Rather than calmly saying this is my day off and I’ll give you a number of someone who can help you, he yelled at me saying “how did you get this number” repeatedly. I told him I need a number of someone else and he just kept telling saying it’s his day off and then hung up. Quality employees you got there. More
Dissatisfied with them, they tried to charge us $5,000 then changed it to $3,500 for a lease buyout fee ?? I said what is the lease buyout fee for ? They couldn’t tell me and said go to another dealership then changed it to $3,500 for a lease buyout fee ?? I said what is the lease buyout fee for ? They couldn’t tell me and said go to another dealership maybe they can help you. The other Kia dealership we went to was happy to help and didn’t have a phantom lease buyout fee of $3,500. Shame on you Brogden. This is borderline illegal!! More
I got a flat tire while visiting my husband in the hospital. I called Olathe Kia and spoke to Mark in service dept. He was extremely helpful and gave me the number to the Kia roadside assistance. T hospital. I called Olathe Kia and spoke to Mark in service dept. He was extremely helpful and gave me the number to the Kia roadside assistance. They came and towed my car to Olathe Kia promptly. All the while the driver was in contact with me plus I received text messages advising me the status of my vehicle. I also had an appt for service to be done next week and Mark from Olathe Kia Service Dept called me to ask if I would like for them to go ahead and service my car while they had it for the tire so I wouldn't have to come back in a few days. I greatly appreciate Olathe Kia and Mark for the excellent service they provided for me. Thank you. More

Things went down hill quick! Updated review- use caution! My initial review in sept: Melanie and Marcus did a fantastic job of taking the time to explain my full vehicle purchase and options. Today we work My initial review in sept: Melanie and Marcus did a fantastic job of taking the time to explain my full vehicle purchase and options. Today we worked well to accomplish an amazing deal. Update: Melanie is the worst! Use caution!!! I have heard there are some new staff there now and some old that have left, so it might be fine and I don’t want to bash the new crew. BUT- 3 weeks after purchasing my car, I was told my electronic signatures did not save, so I needed to return to the dealership. Once I re-signed my electronic documents, I discovered that they (assuming Melanie) had added the $2000 Alpha warranty, which I had declined. She also did not give me the military discount that she told me she would and that my original paperwork had. She also notified me I would be getting a low APR bc I had excellent credit, but then I discovered she gave me the high finance rate at 75 months. Voicemail boxes for Finance Dept still to this day are either not set up or full. Countless emails and phone calls were left that first month, in an attempt to resolve the issues. One month after purchasing the vehicle, I contacted Alpha warranty to see if they had my cancellation paperwork, and they informed me I didn’t even have a case on file with them yet! I ended up telling them my case number and faxing them my cancellation information. Reimbursement should have taken 30 days and it took 90! Not sure I would have gotten it at all if I did not keep calling. Peter is in the finance department now and he was the kind gentleman to return my call and help me get my reimbursement. I’m assuming if Mel is gone and he is there, things should be fine. Secretary also seemed nice. Other strange thing- my car had 700 miles on it when purchased, but they refused to change the odometer statement reading that said 12 miles when purchased. Also, the battery had been tampered with prior to me owning it, (no previous owners)which I only discovered bc it completely died on me while driving home 3 months after purchase. I had to be towed to the closest Kia. More
I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation and a recall. They told me it would take around two hours which I knew ahead of time. After approximately an hour I was told my car was done. When checki a recall. They told me it would take around two hours which I knew ahead of time. After approximately an hour I was told my car was done. When checking out I was told that they did not rotate my tires because they did not need it. I was quite shocked and taken aback by the statement. I was told my tread depth was fine so it didn’t need it. The technician working on my car was the one that made this decision. I said no no no. I brought it in to have a tires rotated. I rotate my tires every oil change. So they took my car back into the garage and rotated my tires. I don’t quite understand why a technician working on my car would make a decision like that. The tires were Purchased in July so I knew they had plenty of tread Depth. I have always rotated my tires when getting my oil changed. I’ve gotten plenty of life out of prior tires by performing maintenance on them with the rotation. I was not very happy with this whole scenario. Thank you! More
#1: I asked for an oil change, tire rotation, new cabin air filter, and wanted to buy a spare tire kit for my KIA Soul. Brent, the manager insisted my car wouldn't accommodate a spare tire, but I showed hi air filter, and wanted to buy a spare tire kit for my KIA Soul. Brent, the manager insisted my car wouldn't accommodate a spare tire, but I showed him on my phone that KIA sells them for my make and model. I said let's look in the back; and sure enough, there was a space under the cargo area for a spare tire. But he said "they're on back order". Another local dealer had them in stock. #2: I was told the cabin filter didn't need changed. I doubted that, so the next day I pulled out the old one to find it was VERY dirty. They hadn't even looked or tried to change it. It would appear Brent's fragile male ego was more important than customer service or selling products that day. Won't be back. The previous service manager was excellent. But not Brent. More
