While I was excited about purchasing a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, my experience at the dealership was unfortunately typical and left me questioning whether I’ll go back to buying and negotiating o Unlimited Rubicon, my experience at the dealership was unfortunately typical and left me questioning whether I’ll go back to buying and negotiating online for future vehicles. I initially inquired about the Jeep via email and was told it had a "factory lift kit." Though I suspected this was likely inaccurate, I remained interested and drove roughly 100 miles to see the Jeep in person. Upon inspection, it was clear the Jeep had a cheap aftermarket Pro-Comp lift kit rather than the factory option. While this wasn't a deal-breaker for me, as I had plans to upgrade the parts later, it was disappointing to be misinformed. During the test drive, I was allowed to drive on a small, limited route, which didn’t provide a true sense of the vehicle's performance. At the time, I was in a bit of a rush as it was one of the few manual transmission Rubicons with the basic options I was seeking. I ended up making a deal and traded my 2014 Rubicon for the 2020 model. However, it wasn’t until I started the drive home that I noticed a major issue—the speedometer was significantly inaccurate. My phone’s GPS showed my speed was 8-10 mph slower than what the Jeep's speedometer was reading. This meant the odometer was also off, as the Jeep’s computer had not been updated after the lift kit and 37” tires were installed. As a result, the odometer reading is likely understated, and it's impossible to know the actual mileage. At this point, I’ve only had the Jeep for a few days, but this speedometer issue is by far the most egregious. The dealership also didn’t include a second key during negotiations, which was disappointing. Overall, I regret making the deal, and while I take ownership of my part in the process, I wish I had been more cautious and better informed. For anyone considering this dealership, I’d suggest being very thorough and asking plenty of questions. More
