I visited Bergey’s Ford to look at one vehicle in - Paul K
I visited Bergey’s Ford to look at one vehicle in particular, (a Certified Pre Owned 2021 Ford Expedition) which I saw on their website. If the vehicle met my expectations, and was within my price range, which I had established beforehand, I was ready to finance most of it and pay the remainder with personal check. I was also hoping that I would be able to trade in my old Chevy (worth basically nothing) and drive away in the Ford.
Upon entering the showroom, I was cheerfully greeted by Martha their receptionist. After a brief chat with her, she directed me to sales representative Derek Cavanaugh. Derek cordially greeted me, I explained my interest in the Expedition and he immediately went and brought it up front to inspect and test drive, with Derek showing me many of the features on the vehicle. Meeting my expectations, we sat down to discuss what it would take to drive it off the lot the same day.
Not once did I ever feel pressured in any way to buy. Once the price was established, Derek proceeded to get everything in place. He gave me a line by line breakdown of every cost involved and took the time to answer any questions I had about any line item. Bergey’s was able to give me $300 for the Chevy, basically scrap metal weight, which was more than I thought I would get, so that became part of the deal as I had brought the title along with me to sign over. Derek then had the finance team go to work and as a result they were able to provide me with financing from a local credit union that was more competitive than the credit union I was planning to use.
While everything was being processed, Derek took the vehicle to fill the tank up with gas. That’s right. A full tank of gas. And then took it across the street for a final detailing.
With all paperwork signed, the vehicle newly registered and properly insured (I was in touch with my insurance company during the processing) I followed Derek to the service area, where my first maintenance service was scheduled. With that done, Derek handed me the keys/fobs to the vehicle, thanked me for my business and off I drove.
Let me note here that from the time I entered the showroom until the time I drove off, about 4 hours had elapsed. The first 45 minutes was spent going over and test driving the vehicle. About 15 minutes was spent reaching an agreement on the cost, with another 15 minutes being spent looking at the cost breakdown and having warranty options explained to me. The remainder of the time was spent by the Bergey’s team prepping the vehicle, verifying my personal check, and getting the financing, registration, and all the paperwork in order for the vehicle.
I don’t think that the work that was done to get me into that Expedition could have been done any faster. I extol Derek and those involved for being able to make this happen. This has been a very very pleasant car buying experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again with Bergey’s Ford if the opportunity ever presented itself.
In closing, Thanks again Derek and all who took part in the sale.
