I went to the dealership and bought a certified pre-owned 2012 Passat that had come off a lease. I first noticed marks on the windshield and pointed it out to the salesman. He tried to wipe them off, but they would not come off. The dealer sent out a company to treat the windshield, but that produced a wavy windshield. Next, the dealer agreed to replace the windshield, but not with a manufacturer's product (VW). I also pointed out to the salesman that the brakes were pulsating and rumbling. He drove the car and agreed, but then he consulted with the service department and they said it was probably just rust and that the rust would wear off when I kept applying the brakes. I drove for a couple of months because the problem improved somewhat, however, passengers kept bringing it to my attention. I scheduled the car for a brake inspection and told them it was a continuing problem from the day I purchased the car. They said that it was a maintenance problem not covered by my certified warranty. I complained because the brakes were worn and defective from the day I bought it and I drove it to fix the problem as is was told, but the problem still existed. The wanted to charge me $900 +tax for rotors and pads, but I objected. We negotiated the price down to $650 + tax and I paid. My complaint is that this car passed a perfunctory inspection to reach the certified pre-owned status, for which I paid a premium to receive this certification. I should never have been certified with a defective windshield and defective brakes. Moreover, I am extremely disappointed that the salesman did not come to my defense, because he knew of the problem from the beginning and told me to bring it back if the rust did not wear off. He should have put my brake complaint in his file for reference. When the service department checked with him, he denied remembering what he had said to me. I want this review to be an alert to prospective customers that unlike me, you should not trust the salesperson and make sure your complaint is registered in writing and in the file. I wound up paying $700 more than I should have, and I now have an after market windshield when the car should have been prepared better from the start as a certified pre-owned vehicle, for which I paid a higher price that otherwise would have been the case with an ordinary used car. We had a very pleasent conversation and I shared with him what I was really looking for - a Dodge Caliber. The next day, Malcolm called me and was very excited in telling me about the Dodge Caliber he found for me. The next morning, my wife and I went in and when we saw and test drove the Dodge; we decided that we wanted it. Malcolm worked up a very fair deal and within a short period of time, we drove my Dodge home. Then there was a couple of hiccups in processing everything, that caused some frustration, Dave Walter got involved and within moments was able to make everything good. When I walked away from the dealership, I knew that that I was treated in a such a way that I would recommend Dave Walter and Malcolm Moore to anyone and I would do business with them for future needs. I drove 3-1/2 hours to purchase a used vehicle, and prior to my trip I had spoken with Frank 4 different times to get all the information I needed to know about this car. I was told it was beautiful inside and out. the interior was "immaculate" paint was good, no accidents, the car was inspected and everything worked. so I took their word for it and made the trip. I got there with every intention to purchase the vehicle with a cashiers check in hand for the price we agreed to. after inspecting the car it was NOT what I was told in any of the 4 conversations had. I immediately spotted 2 deep big scratches. I thought well no big deal nothing a little touch up paint cant fix and the car is 7 years old. I walked around the car and found where it had been hit in the back end and there was separation from the bumper and scuffs. clearly the car was hit in the back end. I pointed these things out but I still wanted to purchase the car, so I got the keys and inspected the inside. DIRTY! It was not what I would consider immaculate. once again I thought to myself the car is 7 years old it will still work I could probably clean it up better. so I test drove the car for a half hour or so making sure everything worked like I was told. well it didn't the heat did not even get warm even after 30min of driving. I don't know how you sell a car with no heat in the winter. They did come down a few hundred dollars after a lengthy conversation. I decided not to purchase the car because I had been lied to about everything and I just couldn't trust them. we did not know what was wrong with the heat it could have been 100 to fix or 1500 and I just couldn't take the chance. it was too bad because after everything I found I still liked the car and could get over the small things. I wasted 8 hours of my day and money to get there. this whole situation could have been avoided if they had been honest with me. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DEALER! More
