Summary: The oil change performed at their facility resulted in an improper filling of the oil to the appropriate level. When I raised this issue with them, I was met with a dismissive attitude. Detail: I visited Valley Stream Honda to have my Honda Civic serviced with an oil change on May 4, 2024. Upon leaving the service center, I conducted a quick check of the oil level and found it to be low on the dipstick. After confirming this through multiple checks, I promptly returned to the service advisor to report the issue. After several attempts of checking the dipstick, the advisor suggested that the engine needed to be running to allow the oil to circulate and level off properly. Following their instructions, I started the engine as directed. However, the advisor checked the oil level again without wiping the dipstick, and indicated that the oil was at the correct level. I pointed out that this reading was invalid due to the engine running, which would naturally cause oil splashing and give a false impression of a full reservoir. After a proper wipe and recheck, he once again observed that the oil level was low. The car was taken back to the shop for a brief period, after which the advisor returned with the assertion that the oil had been topped off. Unfortunately, throughout this entire process, there was a lack of apology, and the attitude displayed by the advisor suggested that they were doing me a favor. While I understand that service centers can face challenges such as being busy, short-staffed, or overworked, I expect the issue to be addressed promptly and professionally. The low oil levels can lead to engine damage costing me thousands of dollars. More
