I have now purchased three cars from Carvana and helped with a fourth. Up until now I had a great experience. This purchase was miserable. I can no longer recommend Carvana, and have to advise strongly not to use them. Searching for and picking the car was fine. I paid cash, using a different checking account than my prior purchases. Getting the account verified was very time consuming because the Carvana telephone wait times were excessively long. When we finally got the bank on the line, the Carvana representative hung up on them. I had a trade in and uploaded the documents. The website listed my documents “unreviewed” prompting calls to Carvana and more long wait times. They said not to worry, but the website never showed them as reviewed, causing anxiety. I tried to use the chat attendant which was a total waste of time. The first time, they said I had to call and talk to a person. Twice more I never got an answer. I tried an email, but no response. The instructions were that I was to receive a text on delivery day, that never happened. The delivery actually went quite well, and the person who delivered the car was great, but the process was not what they said it would be, thus more anxiety. The worse, and seriously egregious thing is that the day after delivery Carvana took the money out of the wrong checking account. They kept my account information on file from the past, and used it to charge the old account, not the one I requested and had verified. This created a lot of problems for me. It made that account overdrawn, threatening bill payments I had set up, including tax payments. They did not have permission to maintain or use the old information. On a very busy Monday I had to deal with long telephone delays to contact Carvana in an attempt to rectify the problem. The person I was able to talk with said he would contact the finance department and call me back, but I never heard from him again. That Monday I spent literally hours on the phone on hold, but could not get ahold of anyone again. The following Tuesday morning Carvana’s telephone system did not work. I finally got someone in the afternoon who said she could not help and I needed to wait for the transfer to be returned to the bank. Then I got an email from Carvana wanting the payment, but I could not get through on the phone. Later in the week, I finally got ahold of a representative named Aaron, who was the only telephone representative that was competent. He was actually very helpful, and told me what I needed to do. He did follow up with a call. We are all dealing with pandemic issues, but Carvana’s telephone delays are unacceptable. The two banks I called were able to handle my calls just fine. The chat feature is not helpful. Taking money out of the wrong account without permission is unconscionable and a dereliction. Being in Arizona where Carvana has offices, I feel a responsibility to report them to the Attorney General to protect other consumers from their reckless disregard of my bank information. More

I went back and forth numerous times before I decided to finally go through with purchasing. I finally decided on the perfect vehicle and click submit. Once all my info was verified, I was able to pick my car up that weekend. It took a total of 30 minutes at the actual Carvana dealership to finalize everything. There was literally NO issues whatsoever throughout this process, which surprised me to be honest. I don't have the best of credit and I have been told "no, we can't help you" numerous times, so you can understand why I was a bit prepared for a fall-through. However, Carvana made everything super easy and stress-free. Your down payment isn't withdrawn until you meet with Carvana in person and "accept" your vehicle. As far as the car goes, it was more beautiful in person than the pictures had shown. The odometer was accurate, the features listed were accurate, and the car drives beautifully. The only thing I recommend to anyone when shopping on Carvana is to make sure you input all your information correctly, such as your yearly income. The amount you input versus the amount shown on your bank statements and check stubs can alter your down payment. Carvana thinks of the customer FIRST by allowing them to budget according to their monthly/yearly income, which I appreciated. Overall, my experience was outstanding and I would recommend Carvana to everyone looking to purchase a new-ish vehicle. :) More

Our first experience with Carvana. First, the bottom line--we were able to purchase an excellent used vehicle for a fair, competitive price. The pros: (1) the entire process is virtual, and can largely line--we were able to purchase an excellent used vehicle for a fair, competitive price. The pros: (1) the entire process is virtual, and can largely be handled from the convenience of your home; (2) the vehicles offered are excellent, as a whole; (3) you are provided with a free CarFax report for the vehicle in which you are interested, (4) you avoid the hassle of playing the car buying game with a (typically, less-than-honest) car dealership; (6) there is no "doc fee," which in essence is just a fancy term for dealer mark-up profit, which also saves on state sales tax; (7) the vehicle is delivered to your door if you desire; and (8) the Carvana used-car warranties are excellent. The cons: (1) there is no ability to inspect or drive the car "up-front," (2) the virtual buying process is not seamless, and can be downright difficult and frustrating, as in getting them to accept a picture of your driver's license or to verify your funding; (3) if you have to resort to Carvana customer service help, as we did, you can expect a long wait; and (4) the delivery we'd scheduled weeks in advance and arranged our work schedules to meet was delayed by Carvana at the last moment. Still, all-in-all, a better, more satisfying and consumer-friendly way to buy a car. If we need another vehicle, we'll be back. More

I am very happy with Carvana. Thrilled to avoid the salesman stalking and awkward negotiation at a local dealership. Grateful that they complete the paperwork for registration, etc for you! We had the SUV delivered to us, but our driveway was going to be difficult for the big truck to navigate. My husband was trying to meet the driver for pickup while I was working late. He had our tiny baby with him and thought he’d have to just leave the new SUV in the parking lot where they met. But, with my husband’s permission, the sweet driver drive the SUV down the block to our driveway, to minimize any hassle to us! This purchase was really so easy, and I can’t imagine buying a car the traditional way again! As expected, the outside of the car was dirty when it arrived, but the gift card for washing was a nice touch. We did find a squished Skittle in one of the air vents, and a few stray hairs left over from the prior owners, but that wasn’t necessarily unexpected for a used vehicle. Overall, we are very happy!
