Overall a better experience than the dealership. I like that they have inventory from across the country, as certain models and trims can be difficult to find locally. The bad and the good: The listing inf that they have inventory from across the country, as certain models and trims can be difficult to find locally. The bad and the good: The listing information and disclosures should have been better and included more pictures. There was some fender damage that was much greater than what was shown, a third party auto body shop and insurer is now handling it, but still a hassle. Car had no floor mats, a few bulbs were out, and no bluetooth as noted; all were credited back for a small amount. Price was decent and got a fair value for trade-in. Customer service was helpful with the issues, and the transaction and delivery were very easy. The car interior could have been cleaner. The website was difficult to navigate and seemed to change throughout the process. One thing that would improve the experience is a person knowledgable about the car instead of chat bots. Would use again if more details provided up front and they improve upon the above mentions. Some headaches, but better than the dealership and overall content with the car and experience. More
If you want to skip reading the rest, my advice is DO NOT buy from Carvana. I liked the way you buy a car from Carvana, it is easy to order a car online and they bring it to you. But I had an awful experi buy from Carvana. I liked the way you buy a car from Carvana, it is easy to order a car online and they bring it to you. But I had an awful experience with Carvana and do not recommend it. First, when I got the car, there were major, long scratches with similar patterns on both sides of the car and on the mirrors. These scratches were not mentioned in their advertisement. They either intentionally hide it or something happened when the car was being delivered to me. Anyways, they told me that they will get these damages fixed through a contracted company, so I decided to keep the car. However, later, this contracted company initially rejected fixing most of these scratches. After several emails and phone calls back and forth between Carvana and the company, I got the scratches fixed in the end. This process took several hours from my time, and I did not have my car for four days. I was mad and very frustrated. Second, they were supposed to handle my car's registration and provide me the plates. They gave me a temporary plate which expired shortly after. I called them one month after I bought the car and realized they did not even start the registration of my car. They told me that I have to go to DMV and get another temporary plate. I did, but this was their responsibility but not mine. It took them approximately four months to send me the permanent plate. Again, I lost few hours on something that was not my responsibility. All these happened in the middle of a pandemic and after I started my new job. Being already very busy at work, my experience with Carvana caused a lot of stress and time. If you are thinking of buying from Carvana, hopefully, these provide you some insights into what you can potentially expect. More
We liked the overall experience minus 3 issues with the backend processing. The vehicle was a great deal and we would use Carvana again IF they fix some of their issues. The first issue was that they req backend processing. The vehicle was a great deal and we would use Carvana again IF they fix some of their issues. The first issue was that they require proof of insurance for 45 days after purchase. So no big deal, we add the car to my policy and send in the documents. The next day we get a cancellation notice because our normal policy renews about a week before 45 days. So, after waiting on the phone for at least 30 minutes multiple times, we were told to just ask the insurance company to send evidence that our insurance is valid for 45 days after purchase. They cannot do this early, the new renewal rates were not even in the system yet. The only choice would be to create a new side policy simply for this one vehicle which is ridiculous. Back to Carvana customer service asking what we can do. After going through multiple supervisory levels, we finally get agreement to just show that our current policy has the new vehicle on it and that it auto renews. Upload the documents, call to make sure they were received - all good, give us a day to review, should be good. The next day another cancellation notice comes through. Call in, wait forever again, finally get someone to look at the docs and approve and check the box this time. On to the next issue, mileage on our trade in. You enter the mileage during the appraisal process but delivery was about two weeks out. We would be driving the car during that time and knew the mileage would change so we asked what happens. Were told you get a 1,000 mile grace allowance before the value changes but if you go over it is no big deal, just call in for a reappraisal before delivery and the value may adjust downward slightly. We went on a trip and of course went over the allowance by 47 miles. Call in the day before delivery to get the adjustment done, the system is down and can't reappraise, delivery must be cancelled. Unacceptable, call back in and speak with multiple supervisors, etc and finally get agreement that no adjustment is necessary and we will move forward with the current trade in appraisal. Great, but the last supervisor then casually mentions that funds have not cleared. This is a cash deal, I say just run it through. She says they should have run the ACH a few days before so funds were there in time and they may have to cancel delivery. Got a call back about 30 minutes later saying everything was good. The gentlemen delivering the car was absolutely fantastic - very professional and knew what he was doing. Understood all of the title work, taxes, tag transfers, timelines, and any other questions we had. He mentioned that the funds for a cash deal will normally clear about 3 days after purchase which is exactly what happened. I told him he needed to do some training for customer service. Once again, he was fantastic - way better then any car dealer / sales person I have ever met. SUMMARY: Carvana seems like a company that is growing really fast and has multiple inexperienced people doing the background processing that need better training and / or better tools. I imagine that if it is an easy deal with no adjustments needed that it would go smoothly. I sincerely hope that they fix their training and system issues and I hope they win long term. More

I thought since this is 2021 that the online car buying process would be easier than when I bought a car online in 2006; I was wrong. The process still has somethings to work out but. I spoke to a represen process would be easier than when I bought a car online in 2006; I was wrong. The process still has somethings to work out but. I spoke to a representative on the phone mid morning to discuss documents that were sent in. I had to educate the representative about documents and payroll; once she understood she realized all of the required documents were sent in and just needed to be reviewed. The same representative was great with following up because she called me that evening explaining everything so that I could sign the documents. Well an hour later I get call from another department and I have to sign the documents all over again. The following day seemed even more messy since I was asked to sign my documents another 2 times before they got it right...fine whatever we all make mistakes. Delivery day finally happens, I was prepared and waiting for the driver to call ahead of time (like the email said he would do) but that didn't happen. He called at the time he was to arrive...yay he's on time - annoyed because I had been waiting for his call all morning. When I went out to greet the driver I was relieved to see that he was extremely polite, professional, and knowledgeable in every aspect of his part in the transaction. The following day I realized there is major issue with the transaction, no original key/hardcopy inside the key fob. I call Carvana and they agree to take care of it. The only problem with this is the Volkswagen Dealership is not affiliated with the warranty company used by Carvana so everything I'm told by Carvana and the warranty company goes out the door and I'm paying Volkswagen directly and will need to get reimbursed by the warranty company. The only problem with this is I have to wait until I get the actual registration for the car. Temporary registrations from out of state are not accepted in the state of California. Another issue was discovered with my car on day 2. I found evidence of body work being done to the car and not very good. It bothers me because it should have been noticed when the car was going through it's 150 point inspection or at least the final detail inspection. I would have to add that the inspection process needs attention. Carvana and SilverRock warranty sent me to a body shop to have an estimate done but to my surprise it wasn't for all of the concerns I had brought up. He told me I would have to ask for those items to be replaced. Another thing is I asked him to just look at the car and tell me what he sees. When he opened the hood he instantly said there is evidence of an accident. He said the car has to many "new" pieces under the hood and they could only look that way if it was A) a brand new car or B) it had recent body work done. I'm now waiting to hear back on my discoveries. I can only hope that they will correct all of the issues instead of just picking this and that. I will never buy a car from them again. I love the car, I just feel I paid more for the vehicle considering all the issues I found. I'm sure if I was to have the car appraised it would be given a lower score which would bring the value down. More
