Our recent experience at Umansky Toyota included - juliabfa
Our recent experience at Umansky Toyota included outstanding service from Michael Oppermann, Sales Manager.
We live in the Chicago-area and my husband had done extensive research looking for the best deal for a pre-owned Toyota Tacoma for our son who is in the military (this becomes the lynchpin of our experience soon). Umansky had hands-down the most promising option so we drove up on Monday, August 18 and, after some questions and clarifications, decided to buy the car for cash. We were told the exact price for the Cashier’s Check and my husband and son returned on Tuesday, August 19, with check in hand. They inspected the car, its improvements, were satisfied, and handed over the check and received all the paperwork except for the title. They were told at that point that the title would be surrendered when the Cashier’s Check cleared the bank. This is where things started getting sticky.
Our son had been called to his base in Colorado and had to leave by Sunday, Aug. 20 and needed the title to drive to his base. We were told to call on Wednesday, Aug. 20 to see if the check had cleared. We did visit our bank to see what we could do on our end but there was nothing. It was at this point we contacted Michael Opperman. I explained to Michael our dilemma and time crunch. He was reassuring as we discussed the timeframe and possible scenarios. He was professional, calm, an excellent listener and troubleshooter. We agreed I would call him at intervals throughout the day to determine the check’s status. Each time I called back, he answered immediately, investigated the check’s status (still not cleared) and was open to me checking in with him the next day as well.
The weekend was approaching and still no title. My calls continued on Thursday with Michael either taking them or texting me that he would call me back. Michael walked me through all his strategies for solving the problem but by 4:30, it wasn’t looking good. I called one more time late on Thursday but it was looking grim. However, on that call he said he had one more idea and would call me back. We were headed out for our farewell dinner when Michael called and said the problem was solved and to pick up the title on Friday morning! We toasted our son at dinner and then there was a special glass raise for Michael.
Michael Oppermann is a true professional. He treated us with empathy, never gave us the brush-off or trivialized our situation and was an effective problem solver. He handled each phone call with patience, grace and a sense of humor. Michael raises the level of what it means to be a sales manager and Umansky is fortunate to have him. We are so grateful for his intervention and his kindness.
Additionally, we appreciated Allen Good, Service and Parts Director's, honesty and willingness to listen to our concerns. He was responsive, professional and friendly. His expertise is obvious and, ultimately, we were very pleased with what Allen and his team did to prep the truck for our pickup.
Lastly, Marry Kanhalykham is a professional and warm Sales Consultant. Nothing was too much trouble and we respected her ability to know her limits and ask for help therefore, making our experience genuine and trusting. Marry Kanhalykham is definitely an asset to the Umansky sales force.
