Unfortunately, Gerard - the condition in which your 2008 Rabbit is in, requires a decent amount of repairs. Out of what you listed - let’s review. To start, it was a clerical error on my part for the cost of the front two Continental Tires - what I marked down on your copy as $940 was the Control Arm Brackets - that of which were split/worn over time - the cost of two tires to replace are $450 with a Four Wheel Computerized Alignment being listed at $160. My apologies for that. In regards to the Control Arm Brackets, I had mentioned to you that they could wait and that it was not necessary to immediately replace them. As for the Tie Rods - I did inform you that though we recommend replacing both at the same time - only one side needed to be replaced due to the left-side boot being torn and leaking - a cost of $815 was provided to you for that. The choice is always yours on ANY of our recommendations. The Oxygen Sensor that you state RockAuto has for $50 - which I am sure to be possible; is aftermarket & non-VW OEM. We do not source aftermarket parts due to the consequences/issues that can arise from them; potentially costing you even more money in the long-run. Faults were stored for this exact part. I made sure you had the understanding that this was TO START; as we would have to clear the faults and perform testing to ensure nothing else returned for fault codes. A prime example of how upfront and honest we chose to be with each and every customer to ensure you’re aware of the situation & repairs at hand. I’m unsure what Exhaust Clamp you found online - your $15 mention that it costs can only be assumed to be aftermarket - do-able but again, we only work with VW OEM parts. A price sure to not have labor/tax factored into it - same as the Oxygen Sensor. Finally, upon inspecting your vehicle, with a concern that you had the Power Steering Light indicator on - we found the Power Steering Rack Wires to be heavily corroded causing interference in connection to the Power Steering Rack itself - this is a repair that is methodical and takes roughly 2-3 hours to complete alone. By stating we treated you “less than” is ludacris. Our Sales & Service Team, treat every and all customers with the same respect & service as the next. I took the time to narrow down what we felt was more prominent to replace versus what could wait - there was not once I indicated everything HAD to be done. The total of all repairs came to $5050 - Items that were indicated to be more urgent than others came to $2550. My recommendation was to move on from the car and to not invest the money - another example of the honesty we pride ourselves in; you then proceeded to speak with Sales. Typically, there would be more than a single hour of diagnostic charges for the concerns in which we brought your car in, only charging one hour of diagnosis would be considered more than fair to most. The email in which you sent to our Sales Consultant, Jens, with more than insulting language in it - to a point in which was almost threatening - is not a customer we choose to have here. I apologize as though you feel our prices are high but as you can see by our other online reviews; we are a reputable dealer - one in which has a loyal customer base based on fairness in pricing, honesty and quality for service provided by both Sales & Service.
