My experience was seamless. Avery Gathercole was the sales associate who greeted my wife and I as we entered then studio. I was waiting for a transaction to go through with my other car before executing the purchase of the new car at Volkswagen. While my situation was unique and I had plan that i was determined to stick to, Avery offered many solutions to my concerns without making me feel pressure to make a decision on the spot. She was very patient with me as it took 2/3 more weeks for me to come back fully prepared to make the purchase. During those 2/3 weeks, Avery regularly followed up with me and again, was still very patient. I will be working with her again for our families automobile needs and will recommend her to others. I feel compelled to write this review specifically about Sales Manager Julian Perez at VW of Downtown. My interaction with him was perhaps the most disingenuous car buying experience I've ever had. From th Sales Manager Julian Perez at VW of Downtown. My interaction with him was perhaps the most disingenuous car buying experience I've ever had. From the moment we met, Julian attempted to establish false rapport by claiming "we're neighbors" (we weren't even close to being neighbors) and trying to act overly friendly - classic manipulation tactics that felt immediately insincere. But the real issues began when discussing numbers. When presented with a competitor's detailed, line-by-line quote for a fully loaded Atlas at a significantly lower price, Julian dismissed it as "deceitful" without explanation. The irony? His quote for a base model Atlas was substantially higher, yet he couldn't (or wouldn't) provide a breakdown of the costs. Even more telling, our salesperson appeared visibly uncomfortable and confused by Julian's numbers and tactics. The worst part? Julian made me wait over two hours just to present this inflated quote, showing complete disregard for my time. His strategy seemed to be: keep the customer waiting, hope they're too exhausted to think clearly, then push an overpriced deal with vague numbers. If you're a potential customer, just know that there are far better options available. I immediately went to another dealership afterward and got a fully loaded Atlas for thousands less, with transparent pricing and no games. Julian's approach to sales is exactly why people dread car shopping. VW of Downtown would do well to reconsider whether this type of leadership aligns with their values. To the salesperson who worked with us: you deserve better management. Your professionalism throughout this ordeal was noted and appreciated. More
