I would have rated it lower but am gave AJ a lot leeway since he was new to the job. He needed more training and someone shadowing him. He struggled a lot to enter my info into the computer, so I had to gi since he was new to the job. He needed more training and someone shadowing him. He struggled a lot to enter my info into the computer, so I had to give him the same info several times over. It took at least 1/2 hr just to do that. But before that … I had called 3 times over recent weeks (including just a couple of days before going in) to make sure you had nitrogen to top off my tires. When I called, the person I spoke with was not familiar with nitrogen replacing air in tires. In one case the person got the info (yes, it is available there) and in the other cases I held on the phone while the person checked. I also asked if I needed an appointment to top them off and was told no, but best to come mid afternoon or later so there would be less wait time. When I arrived, person after person told me that you did NOT have nitrogen for tires and didn’t think you ever had it. I insisted that I was told it was there … and had it confirmed by others before traveling 40 min to get there. More people came and asked what I wanted. One asked who told me and I remember Tara was the person who checked and called me back. AJ came over and said he was my service person … and that there was no nitrogen. I explained again what I went through to be sure there was. He went into the office (to the left of the service counter as you face it) and came back to say I was mistaken. I told him I was not mistaken and please check again. I explained that I have had nitrogen in my tires for years (from Toyota dealership in MD, where I lived until 1+ yrs ago) and the warning light was on that I needed air. I told him (and several others) that the last time I needed air it was in the spare tire …. and until then did not know the warning system was connected to the spare. AJ came back after checking in the office again and told me that YES, there was nitrogen for tires but they would have to get it. I asked “get it from somewhere else?” and was told it had to come out of storage, making it sound like a big deal and a bit of a pain to do that. He said before they do that, I had to agree to paying $69 for the nitrogen. I said I thought that was awfully high to just top off 5 tires at most, but possibly just one or two, needing just a very few pounds of nitrogen. I told him when I had all of the air removed from my tires and replaced with nitrogen, that cost about $70. When the one time the Tire Warning light came on (and again said it was due to the spare tire, although the mechanic checked all 5 tires to be certain), I wasn’t charged anything. I told AJ that I had no problem paying something for the nitrogen, but thought $69 was a bit much. He said he would check again, and returned saying it would be $69. I asked if I could speak with the person who was telling him that. He said instead, he would go back again. I reiterated that I already had nitrogen in my tires and just needed to top off any that were low … but expected the culprit to be the spare tire. AJ returned and told me that the $59 was to completely fill the tires with nitrogen, but they didn’t know til that last request that I already had nitrogen in my tires. What??? I had said that at least a dozen times by then PLUS have the green caps on the nozzles on each tire which depicts there is nitrogen and not air in them. He said since it was just to top off the tires, there would be no cost. All of this took at least 45 minutes. It was after this that AJ led me to the counter and struggled mightily to enter my info! So it was nearly 1 1/2 hrs before a service ticket was ever entered into the system. AJ showed me where the waiting area was, pointed out the cafe and said I could get anything there and just give them his name, and also pointed out where the women’s bathroom was located. I was totally impressed with the comfort and services you provide for customers waiting for their vehicles! I have never experienced anything like that at the 4 or 5 Toyota dealerships I used over the years (all in the DC Metro area). I did get a panini and it was delicious! The employees at the cafe were very friendly and accommodating. AJ told me my car should be done in about 30 minutes. It was about an hour later (maybe more … not less) when AJ came to tell me my car was almost done … they just had to get it off the lift. I thought he was going to come back to get me when it was down, but after waiting another nearly 40 minutes, I thought I was mistaken so went back to the service counter. AJ said there had been an issue, so they weren’t done yet. But it wouldn’t be long and he would get me from the cafe when it was ready. It was about another 30 minutes until he came for me … and explained why they had to put the car back on the lift: When they took it down, the tire warning light was still on … so THAT was when they checked the spare tire and found it was low on air (not flat, but needed more than the one pound or so of air that were added to a couple of tires (per AJ … I couldn’t get a more finite answer as to how much air and which tires). Really??? They had not checked the spare until then??? After repeating over and over and over again to AJ and mechanics that came up to me when I was still in my car and everyone was denying there was nitrogen, the spare tire was never checked until after they thought they were done. So I spent much more time at your dealership than I ever anticipated. The one time I got topped off with nitrogen before, I was in and out of that MD dealership in about 15 minutes … with no appointment and no advance warning I was coming. I was a bit surprised about this because my sister, Nancy Dressel, has been using your dealership for years and loves everything about it. I was the first in our family to have a Toyota, buying my first one in 1978 and have only bought Toyotas since then. Sorry this was so long! But trust me … my wait at your dealership was much, much longer! If I had any idea how long it would take, I would have had someone walk my little dog while I was gone! I could not blame him for having to use the floor and rug when he could wait no longer! Please …. 1) Let your service department know you have nitrogen for tires and how you charge for total fill vs top off, and 2) Have someone train new customer service reps a little longer, including shadowing them to assist when the new person just cannot figure out how to enter simple information into the computer when something unexpected occurs (for some reason, the computer kept associating my name with a business I owned but closed in 2017 … and my car was always personally owned and never had anything to do with that business).
