I recently purchased a 2009 Highlander Hybrid from TOM and couldn't be happier . John treated me with the utmost respect was extremely knowledgeable and really attentive. RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN! In over 20 years of buying a car I have never had an experience as miserable as the one I had yesterday at this dealership. We came in to purchase a used Toyota that was adver a car I have never had an experience as miserable as the one I had yesterday at this dealership. We came in to purchase a used Toyota that was advertised on the dealer's web site. Since we were driving to Manhattan from Westchester I asked our original salesman, Robert, if the car was available at the advertised price. He assured me they had many models to choose from and I would have no problem finding a car in my price range. I called when we were about 10 minutes from the showroom and Robert said he'd have someone meet us out from to valet park our car. When we got to the showroom, in about the time estimated, no one was there to park our car. I was told that Robert had gone to lunch when I called to see where he was. Explained the situation and was told they'd send someone out. We waited 15 minutes so I went in to the dealership and asked what happened. Jose said he'd send someone out, which finally happened. Then, as we were waiting in the street, the 'Manager' John comes over to say he was looking for me. Really? Well, I was kind of hard to miss and I never saw him even looking in the street. He was standing across the street eating chips and he offered to shake my hand with his saliva, greasy fingers. Ugh! Jose held us captive for over 1 1/2 hours, taking my husband's credit card "as a sign of our good faith" which is why we could not run away plus I wanted my car back. In the end, his "best offer" was $100 off a car that was $5,000 more than I told him I was willing to spend. Luckily, we got out of there. I'm so disgusted we're buying a Honda from another dealer with a good rating. More

The people at Toyota of Manhattan are nice, but nice won't fix my car the right way. Nice is about the only thing they have going for them. I was told I had to have parts of my A/C replaced, and afte won't fix my car the right way. Nice is about the only thing they have going for them. I was told I had to have parts of my A/C replaced, and after I went to pick up my car, I was driving upstate in hot weather, A/C on Med-High with Lukewarm air blasting out - then my daughter in the passengers seat tells me there is water dripping on her feet. I call Toyota and tell them this, they have me bring the car back in (a huge inconvenience between the train ride downtown and the 20 minute walk over to the west side highway). I was not apologized to by anyone because of their mess-up. On a separate occasion, I had to go in for a tire, oil & battery change and to have a piece of the side molding reattached since it had come off. I was talked into a couple of extras, which ended up being just under $2,000. When I went to pick up the car, not only had they NOT reattached the piece I had asked them to, but they had ALSO knocked off a piece of the back molding while the car was in the shop, and just threw it in the front seat with the one they had not reattached. I complained, and again, was not apologized to, and was told to call my service provider in the morning and bring the car back in the next day (another huge inconvenience since I use my car for work). Needless to say, between the half-xxx jobs that are done here, the high labor-rates they charge, and the fact that I am always getting talked into unnecessary fixes, I will NEVER be returning to Manhattan Toyota again. I always leave there with a sour taste in my mouth from the service, and they've had 5 chances and failed at every single one. Do not bring your car here!!! More

I would not trust these people if I were just buying a candy bar from them. I spent hours in the store being shown vehicles I didn't want with more features than I asked for. But they kept saying that they wanted to put me into something nicer, and made me feel guilty when I would not budge on price for that something nicer. Finally, we agreed on the low-options car I wanted — a simple Corolla, at a price I was happy with. They said to come back at 4 to pick it up. When I got there, they told me the car they meant to sell me was scratched when it arrived, and they can't sell it. But here is a similar one, in a slightly different color, with fancier wheels, and of course, a higher price. I was furious, especially since they had got me to put $3000 down already on my credit card. I refused to pay the higher price, and they said it would take several days to refund my car. I don't know why, since the Gap can execute a return in moments, but luckily, the credit did finally appear on my card. For the next several days, Greg kept calling me to say that they found the car I wanted. Will I work with them on price. What can they do to make me feel comfortable. When I said give me an even better price than we had negotiated, Jody said he would have had given him the courtesy of calling him back sooner after he left a message (What?). Avoid this place! These guys cannot be trusted. I bought a Honda across the street and it was the exact opposite experience — I loved the dealership and I love my car. More
