I brought my 2003 prius in for the 4th time because there is an issue with the battery not holding a charge. Each time, I received a new battery and was told they couldn't find anything wrong with it and eve is an issue with the battery not holding a charge. Each time, I received a new battery and was told they couldn't find anything wrong with it and even suggested at one point that maybe Im leaving the lights on. No chance.. Let me also say that when the battery is charged, the car runs fantastic for having 100k miles on it. Anyway, this time they really dug into it and searched for the issue. We agreed to a $600.00 diagnostic. They found that the, (what they call a radio) which is basically the computer for the entire car was not functioning correctly. They don't service this "Radio/Computer" on such an old Hybrid and would need to send it out to be repaired. This would cost $1,400.00 and I agreed to it. I got a call from my service advisor telling me that they received the "radio/ computer in peices and completely damaged durring shipping. They were able to install it somehow but it looked really bad. Even the air vents were now missing and would blow the air directly in our face. What they offered me was to wipe out the entire bill. Well It took me a week but I finally agreed to pick up the car not knowing what choice I really had. But they actually thought this was ok to hand me back my car in this condition and by not charging me, it made it ok.. Is this for real??? But the day I was ready to go get the car " which was today" I got a call from my service advisor. He told me now that car would not go in reverse. They had the car for several weeks and never had a problem moving it around. They told me that it is the hybrid batteries going bad. They want $3,000.00 to replace them and told me I could go elsewhere to get it done cheaper because they only replace the whole unit and someone else may replace parts of it. I asked if maybe I could get a deal on a used car because I need it for getting around town. My son has severe Autism and fully relies on me. I got a text from a salesman and all he said was that they got an appraisal on the car and can offer me $500.00 for my car. Nothing else just that.. I assume that was for a trade not sure. I keep thinking if I had just kept jump-starting the car I would still have a car. It's like a bad dream. This a Toyota Dealer is this really ok?? More
