Firstly, I'd like to say that I've gone to this service center many times as they have always been honest and forthcoming with any issues that I've had with and of my families cars. Cory comes to mind as a person that is trying to do right by the customer there. He's Phenomenal. That being said, This last time I went in might very well be my last. I went in to have my driver side window motor/regulator replaced as it had broken. The service advisor Marc Scalera let me know that it was $200 to diagnose the problem which I was 100% ok with knowing that I planned on having your service center repair the problem and that money would come off the total of the full repair service anyway. Unfortunately, when Marc popped over to give me the estimate for the work, I was floored. The quote was $1000. When I him if he had an itemized list for the estimate he said he did not. I then asked what the price of the component was and he replied "Something like $350 or $360" after fumbling through some papers. Here is where the problem lies..... Obviously while i was waiting there, I was looking through options of parts etc. If I wanted to personally buy the part from Subaru, I could have for $270 that day, (although I would have needed to go to a separate facility). That being said, that would mean if the shop labor rate is lets say $200 an hour, that this repair would take a certified Subaru tech 3 hours to complete. I left there, ordered the part and a $25 trim removal kit. I have literally NEVER taken a door panel off in my life let alone attempted to replace a window motor/regulator. The entire replacement took me 80 minutes and I had no clue what I was doing, so I personally find it highly unlikely that a Subaru tech would have taken longer than me. Sadly, it seems that this service center was not looking out for me, but instead Marc was price gouging. It truly leaves a bad taste when you know for sure that someone is trying to rip you off because the think that you are an idiot or that they just can. Overall, it was the worst experience. More

The service team at Newton Subaru were fantastic and always enjoyable to deal with. Every time I come in they are always eager to hear my concerns and will throughly go over all the fine details. The service at this dealership was exceptional. It starts from the moment you pull up, with courteous service and swiftly checking you in. As you enter the service department, that same service continues. My interactions with Marc went above my expectations. I went in for an oil change and had questions about the crack in my windshield. I hesitate to replace the windshield because it will be expensive. The last Subaru dealership I visited told me this job would cost about $3000, even though I had purchased a windshield warranty before purchasing my Subaru the previous year. Marc took care of all the paperwork. He texted me and emailed me throughout the day with questions from the warranty company and assured me the job would get done once I brought my car back the following week. He also told me he would have a loaner for me, which I never considered asking for. Subaru of Newton will be my home base dealership. Thank you, Marc and Subaru! More
