I will never buy another Kia A warranty claim was rejected for a melting drivers side mirror even though the issue clearly originated inside the mirror. I have pictures of the internals of the mirror and the melted part of the mirror follows the path of the wiring harness which indicates that the wiring has caused the plastic on the mirror to melt. Furthermore, there is no visible burn to the outside of the mirror where it is melted, but the inside has a black mark. True that the wiring itself is not melted, but it is quite possible that the melting temperature of the wiring sheath is higher than the melting temperature of the plastic mirror which could explain why the wiring is still intact. Renee in service was very rude to me and Tom the service manager wasn't of any help either. They told me that because the mirror was still working and there was no damage to the internal parts, it was not covered. I am driving around in a 2016 factory warrantied car with a fire hazard that creates a huge liability for Kia, yet they have turned me away. I would expect that a car company like Kia would be very eager to fix a potential fire issue as well as understand the root cause so as to avoid accident, injury, even death and also avoid potential lawsuits. In addition to being denied my claim, I was told 3 weeks ago that the warranty guy at Kia was on vacation and they would get back to me the following week. To my dismay, after 2 weeks I did not receive a call back. Today when my son-in-law called, Tom told him that I haven't received a call back because the warranty guy is on vacation...3 weeks later he is still on vacation? ...and then subsequently rejected the claim anyway apparently without speaking to the warranty guy whom is supposedly still on vacation. Bottom line, don't buy a Kia Optima and if you do, don't buy it from Shaker Kia! More
