I recently took my BMW X1 in for its annual maintenance and mentioned that I’ve been unable to update the vehicle’s software due to repeated “battery severely discharged” errors. The service team diagnosed and mentioned that I’ve been unable to update the vehicle’s software due to repeated “battery severely discharged” errors. The service team diagnosed the car and assured me there were no faults on my end, nor issues with the battery or alternator. They charged the battery to full and advised me to attempt the update at home. Unfortunately, the error persisted, leaving me unable to proceed. I immediately responded to their follow-up text message explaining the problem but received no reply. Frustrated, I researched potential fixes and even drove the car for two hours on the highway, as some forums suggested but i still got the same error message. I took the car to a local auto shop for them to check the battery and they found the battery was 90% full but the issue remained unresolved. After multiple ignored texts, I contacted BMW Genius, where a representative acknowledged a known software bug on BMW’s end. They advised me to bring the car in for a quick update push. However, when I arrived for my scheduled appointment, I was told the car needed *another full day of diagnosis*, forcing me to reschedule. This miscommunication wasted my time and added unnecessary inconvenience. More
