Wardell Mitchell was a wonderful sales person. He was working with my parents who are both in their 70s and had not bought a car in 13 years. I had taken them to a few other dealerships and they had not been shown that same patience or kindness. I bought my first car from Tiffany Hooper in Dec, 2013. I was unable to get to the dealership so Tiffany called to talk me through details and then picked me up from my house. I honestly felt like she cared more about helping me find the right vehicle than about making a sale. I bought my car that evening and I feel like I got a fair price and the perfect car for me! I had been looking around for a new Honda CR-V and stopped by Pohanka one afternoon to see what was available. I was greater by Meagan Bailey of their sales team. I was interested in a color that was difficult to find. She said "give me a few minutes and I will check our inventory." Nothing was available. Then she had another option for locating one. She asked me to come out to the portico and said "What do you think of your new car?" I am not sure what kind of magic she conjured up, she was able to locate EXACTLY what I was looking for. We are a family that kept going from dealership to dealership in search of a compact SUV. After a while we knew exactly what we wanted and at what price. However, it was getting very frustrating bec dealership in search of a compact SUV. After a while we knew exactly what we wanted and at what price. However, it was getting very frustrating because every dealership that we went to kept trying to nickel and dime us for any little extra feature on the car. On top of that they would also be insincere about the total price of the car with taxes and fees, and at the end they would just refuse to sell the car at a decent price. All of that changed when we went to Pohanka Honda and had the pleasure of talking with Shavon Deal. Shavon was the nicest and most understanding representative that we've ever met at a car dealership. I feel bad because we walked in with a lot of bad energy, coming from previous dealerships, and we assumed that Pohanka was going to try to rip us off like the other ones. It turned out to be the complete opposite. Shavon was very polite, very professional, and she listened carefully to our needs and concerns. In the end she offered us the car that we wanted, with the features that we wanted, at the price that we wanted. Pohanka was the most reasonable dealership that we've dealt with and Shavon was the most down-to-earth representative that we've met. I highly recommend that you talk to her if you decide to visit Pohanka. She's an awesome person and she will save you both time and money. More
We got internet quotes from several Metro DC Honda Dealerships after receiving a quote from Consumer Reports on a Honda Pilot 2013. We followed the quotes up with phone calls to inquire as to the "bo Dealerships after receiving a quote from Consumer Reports on a Honda Pilot 2013. We followed the quotes up with phone calls to inquire as to the "bottom line/walk out the door" price. We scheduled an appointment with a dealership that was offering the best deal over the phone. Then our neighbor shared with us a great deal that he received from Pohanka Honda in Capitol Heights and suggested that we give them a call. We did. The sales manager, Sean W., assured me that he could beat the deal that I had received and told me to come to the dealership. After canceling my scheduled appointment, we drove from Leesburg to Capitol Heights. Buyers beware - the manager does not mean what he says and does not say what he means. There were so many clues from the beginning telling us to get up and walk away that we ignored the clues for FOUR hours! There were corn chips that I picked up off the back seat of the "new" Pilot and threw out and my daughter mentioned that the car smelled like a cheeseburger, not a new car. I didn't think anything of it and simply thought that perhaps a family with young children had explored the car, not a big deal. Then, the manager presented us with a sheet with ridiculous prices that we had to initial - I guess to make us think we were getting a good deal after initialing something that was 10k higher than what was shared on the phone. Negotiations went on for four hours and we were finally at a point where we were ready to sign for the deal when the full disclosure report showed that the Pilot had 5,000 miles on it. That was it for us - we had been negotiating the whole time under the assumption that we were buying a new car, not a DEMO! The price would have been good on a NEW PILOT. The manager blamed this failure to disclose on a brand new sales consultant. The new sales consultant is getting some excellent training on how to snow customers - I feel bad for the kid. Also, this dealership refused to throw in any accessories or service packages (not that we are interested in service packages since we live so far from Capitol Heights). We have purchased two other Hondas in the Metro DC area over the last decade (one in Virginia and one in Maryland) and we do know that dealers can and do provide much better deals that what we were offered today that include accessories and service packages. We are also thankful that our 15 year old was with us and got to observe the negotiations. We explained to her on the way home the importance of doing your homework prior to visiting and just like there are poor sales consultants, there are good ones as well that do try to get the best deal for the consumer instead of their own pockets. Wardell was a pleasure to work with. He had outstanding customer service and was the only dealer in all my car seeking that showed me the ins and outs of my future vehicle. He did everything possible to make sure I was happy and put in the extra effort to make time for my frequent pop-ups. He is the only reason I purchased my new Honda Civic. I also know how safe my car is simply because Wardell took the time to show me the engine, how it worked,the features, etc.He deserves a promotion! I am still to this day referring people to him. He was the only one who gained my trust first. More
