In the quarter century I have been a customer of Palmer, I have had many good experiences and expected more of the same. A fellow named Peyton checked my car in and I went to wait in the customer lounge I have had many good experiences and expected more of the same. A fellow named Peyton checked my car in and I went to wait in the customer lounge after telling Peyton I would be waiting there. The entire time I was in the customer lounge, there was only one other person in the lounge. Since it did not seem to be busy, I was surprised when I noticed that almost an hour later I had not heard anything about my car. I started to walk back to the service department to ask how things were going. As I walked out of the building, I saw Peyton walking toward me with someone else whom I assume was a customer. Peyton did not recognize or acknowledge me, but just led the customer through a door that I think is for your parts department. I continued walking and saw my car parked. It had a new sticker on the windshield, so I knew it had already been serviced. I went into the service department and asked about my car. One person went to find Payton, but couldn't. Another found my paperwork and proceeded to process the paperwork. While that was happening, Peyton walked in. I asked Peyton when he was planning to tell me that my car was ready. He could have responded by apologizing. If that had happened, I would not be writing this email. Instead he told me that the car had just been done for a few minutes and that he was busy helping another customer. It seemed unlikely to me that the car had been ready for just a few minutes because of the empty waiting room. Being used to seeing some teamwork at Palmer, I asked him, "Why didn't you ask one of your associates to tell me?" He responded by telling me that he didn't know my car was ready. Please inform Peyton that lying to customers is never a way to improve a bad situation. I would like to have an apology from Peyton. I would also like some assurance that he understands that lying is never an acceptable way to provide customer service. More
