First of all I love my 2003 Jetta GLI. I don't think VW makes a Jetta as sweet as the 2003 model anymore, which is a shame. The engine is a 2.8 liter 24 valve powerhouse with a six speed tranny.. In general all of my experience with Palisades VW has been favorable. I have been going there for years. I once got an oil change from another repair shop I had experience with on another vehicle and they broke my engine cover and battery cover. Needless to say I never went back. I get my oil changed at Palisades VW. Nonetheless I have some criticisms of Palisades VW. I'm not happy with their flat diagnostic fee of $115.00 especially when they diagnose a problem incorrectly. A year ago the rear tires of my Jetta were cupped and they told me the rear axle was bent. Turns out I needed rear shocks and mounts which I installed myself. A customer that was not knowledgeable would have chunk-ed out 2 grand probably to have the axle replaced. A year later I took my car to VW to have it inspected. I hadn't notice that a tail light bulb was out. I had new bulbs (cost $1.49 each) in the trunk. I was in a bind, VW had my car and and I needed an inspection. They charged me over $20.00 to change the bulb. The incorrect diagnostic, expensive bulb replacement and the fact that Palisades VW is SOOOO expensive in general drove me back to fixing my car myself. I've been working on my autos for years. I'm not saying I'm a better mechanic than the mechanics at VW or elsewhere but when I can fix it I do. I buy some parts from them. Their parts dept is great. I also buy high end German parts from germanautoparts.com at a much better price. I know all the dealerships, VW Audi, Ford etc need to maintain their flashy store fronts. They do sell cars that pay for that. I don't know how VW compensates their employees but in general I think we the customer are getting gouged at the service end. More

My experience with Palisades Volkswagen was a negative one. Our salesman, John, was not completely honest with us when purchasing the car and now a month later we owe almost $300 in fees that were not exp one. The dealership was not understanding when we called to figure out why this fee was not brought up to us. We had even asked at the time of purchase if there would be any extra cost after the vehicle was already paid for, i.e. registration or inspection fees, and we were told that there would be none. Now a month later the dealership claims that even if the salesperson that had been dishonest or made a mistake we still owe the money. The paperwork process was another issue with this dealership. The person who had helped us with the signing process claims that even if the salesperson had given false information, because we signed a contract, there is no way they were going to compensate for their mistake. This dealership is not a place that I would ever trust with my business again. The process was stressful, and the employees were not accommodating or honest with the information. More
