Service department is a total ripoff. Brought CX-5 to have DRL replaced under recall, as 1st repair didn't work. Charged $200 to 'diagnose' that the DRL wasn't working and then tells me it isn't covered have DRL replaced under recall, as 1st repair didn't work. Charged $200 to 'diagnose' that the DRL wasn't working and then tells me it isn't covered under the recall because the recall was already done and want $1300 for new headlamp. Also claims battery is cracked from hold down clamp being overtightened, I inspected myself, neither overtightened nor cracked, battery tested fine, wanted $275 for new battery. Claims coolant is critically low, I added 4 oz to get overflow reservoir back up to the max level, wanted $240 for coolant flush. Claims brake fluid low, level halfway between min and max. Stay away from this place. More

Before I begin, let me just say how truly saddened I am by having to write this review. My initial experience with Open Road Mazda of Morristown was very positive. I was happy with my purchase/trade-in by having to write this review. My initial experience with Open Road Mazda of Morristown was very positive. I was happy with my purchase/trade-in process. That was where my positive experience ended. First of all, be sure that whatever salesperson you get knows what they are doing, because our salesperson has constantly lied to us or has been given false information. Unfortunately, you are stuck with the same salesperson throughout your time working with Open Road Mazda. There were two things the car needed a repair on, and we needed a second key. My husband was told by our sale person to come at a certain time so he would be there when the key guy was there. He waited three hours (I 100% do not blame their key guy, who was apparently very kind. Open Road Mazda should have confirmed when he was coming so my husband didn't have to wait around for hours). Now, onto the real issue. The salesperson had not contacted me about my plates, or about having one of the issues re-looked at on my car. I sent him the video of this issue of my car on October 8th, and he didn't even send it to the service department until October 21. He didn't even know my name, and for several days kept saying that my plates were not in, however he was looking under the wrong name! When he looked under the correct name several days later, he realized the plates were in. I NEVER received a call when Open Road Mazda got them, and since they are clearly behind on everything, I am assuming they had the plates for several days. I had been constantly following up about the plates because my husband and I work very far from the dealer, so we wanted to make sure we had time to pick them up. The salesperson offered to have the plates overnighted, and I agreed, I EVEN OFFERED TO PAY THE OVERNIGHT FEE. The salesperson proceeded to constantly lie about the plates being put in the mail. Finally, he admitted that someone had put the plates in the regular mail with no tracking number, 7 days before my plates expired. With mail delays with COVID, there is no way that they were going to get to me on time, so the salesperson PROMISED Open Road Mazda will pay for any tickets I incur due to expired plates (however, the General Manager is saying that they won't. Thank goodness I have this in writing). The General Manager is very rude, disrespectful, and honestly quite shady. Not only did he try to say that if I had gotten a ticket because of expired plates he wouldn't pay for it (which is ridiculous since his sales guy promised he would), he tried to blame me for not picking up the plates (which once again- my intention by continuously reaching out to our original sales guy was so my husband and I could rearrange our schedules so we could pick up the plates, and then we were given the option to have them overnighted to us). He not only lied, he wouldn't even give me a letter on Open Road letterhead stating that the plates had been mailed and not delivered on time, the plate number in question, and that I would be getting newly issued plates on the day they expired, even though it would have been a simple thing for them to do. I would recommend everyone stay away from Open Road Mazda. More
