Good cop, Bad cop? When the service staff at Novato Chevy do their jobs properly, I have no problem with them. I acknowledge that they have done me favors in the past. When the service staff at Novato Chevy do their jobs properly, I have no problem with them. I acknowledge that they have done me favors in the past. But when they don't do their jobs properly, beware. Here's an example: an Assistant Service Manager who voluntarily suggested that he might be dyslexic, as well as volunteering that others had suggested that to him, got my car's VIN wrong on a service order, and told me so, but only much later, after the Volt specialist assigned to work on my car consulted with him, and the fact of his error was brought to his attention. I had been told before arriving early for an 11 am appt. that my car would be done in one hour. It turned out to be almost two hours, which inconvenienced me greatly. Yet the service department insists that the work was done in a timely manner, and denies any connection between the work taking two hours and the incorrect VIN number on my work order. They deny or directly contradict, after the fact, statements made earlier. Instead of taking responsibility for mistakes, however, the service dept. creates a plausible sounding story and sticks to it, even if it is in direct contradiction with the facts, and my own experience. The manager leans on the all-purpose excuse of how busy he is. It reminds me a great deal of the idea of "The Blue Shield", where, even when it is obvious that a police officer has failed to do his job, or has acted badly, other officers cover for him, his superiors offer vague yet artfully crafted denials, make themselves unavailable, and persist in those denials in the hope that doing so will make the problem just go away. More

Did not have alternator for Chevy vehicle on hand I had my car towed to the Chevy dealer with hopes of getting it fixed same day since I brought it in it 9 a.m. after 3 hours of waiting for an estimat I had my car towed to the Chevy dealer with hopes of getting it fixed same day since I brought it in it 9 a.m. after 3 hours of waiting for an estimate in an empty waiting room they finally told me that they would not get the piece for 2 to 3 days. I do not understand how Chevy dealership could not have a single alternator on hand for a 2012 vehicle. I solve the problem Myself by calling other dealerships because they weren't willing to. I drove to another dealership to pick up the part to have it installed the next morning. More

The salesman and sales manager worked together to provide a transparent, straightforward deal at a fair price. All incentives were honored and there was even some room for further negotiating. The salesman (Doug S.) went out of his way to provide answers to questions and to explain the car’s features in detail. He researched and responded to questions he couldn’t answer and was consistently courteous and forthcoming. My car was delivered well-detailed and as expected. Areas for improvement: The Finance Manager rushed me through the final paperwork and did not adequately explain what I was signing. I had to slow him down and request clarification several times. He was congenial enough but brusque. Also, a few salesmen on the team gave me contradictory information about some technical questions I’d raised. Each spoke with confidence, then got contradicted by the next. One salesman flatly insisted the total Volt electric + gas range is over 700 mi when it is, in fact, ~420 mi. I suggest the sales team coordinate an accurate understanding of the products they sell. Overall, a good auto-buying experience. More
