I am writing to share a highly unprofessional and uncomfortable experience my spouse and I had at North Hollywood Toyota on August 15th, between 5:30 and 6:30 PM. We visited the dealership to beg uncomfortable experience my spouse and I had at North Hollywood Toyota on August 15th, between 5:30 and 6:30 PM. We visited the dealership to begin our car search and were assisted by Sedrick Sadaba and Paul Nieves. We test-drove a Toyota Corolla Cross and a RAV4 Plug-in XSE, and were preparing to view a Camry XSE. However, before we even looked at the Camry, Sedrick explicitly told us that the vehicles we were interested in were "not within our budget" and that he was unsure we could afford them. This was completely presumptuous and offensive, as we had not discussed numbers, income, or our budget with either Sedrick or Paul at any point. His comments were incredibly demeaning and made us feel like third-class citizens. The situation escalated after our test drives when they withheld my husband’s driver’s license for a solid 30 minutes. During this time, we felt incredibly uncomfortable as Paul Nieves relentlessly pressured us to consent to a credit check, despite our clear communication that we were still deciding on which car we wanted. Even more concerning, Paul Nieves repeatedly attempted to isolate me from my spouse to push me into running my credit, without my spouse knowing, which I politely but firmly declined multiple times. When he finally returned my husband's driver's license and realized we were not purchasing a vehicle that day, Paul Nieves became visibly upset. He accused us of "taking advantage" of reviewing their cars and attempted to prevent us from leaving by insisting that we "have to at least say hi to his manager." We already felt highly uncomfortable, and this aggressive tactic to keep us at the dealership against our will was completely out of line. Overall, the blatant disrespect, the withholding of personal identification, and the aggressive, high-pressure sales tactics made this an unacceptable experience. I strongly advise potential buyers to be cautious when visiting this dealership. More
