Bought My Wife a Truck! Wanted a Dodge 3500 Diesel Dually to haul a 5th wheel motorhome. Newport had a 2008 Ram in EXCELLENT condition on their lot. Had searched a number of spots but didn't find one anywhere near this close to my needs. Looked the truck over thoroughly. Liked it! Drove the truck. Liked it! Read the CarFax they supplied. Liked the information! Very pleasant dealing with Mike and his support team. Enjoyable and PROFESSIONAL handling of my purchase. Minor glitch in some paperwork and they handled it well. The staff was frien On Saturday 5/10/2014 I purchased a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I have to say my overall experience at the dealership was positive. The staff was friendly and seemed to work with me in getting a deal that was beneficial to both parties. However, the purchase was towards the end of the afternoon and the dealership was closing, and I had made mention a couple hours earlier that I needed to be somewhere at 5 and I would have gladly came and got the vehicle Monday, but there seemed to be a rush in getting me to take the vehicle that day. Prior to taking the Jeep home my salesman, Tom Nasser, said he needed to go with me to fill it up with gas and got the company gas card. Upon leaving the Hess station I look down at the gas gauge and the tank was filled to just over half a tank. In my opinion that is humiliating. Tom was friendly throughout the process and seemed knowledgable about any questions asked. However, it was obvious that once the check had been signed and turned over that was the end. I took the car off the lot with 14 miles on the odometer and now have 51 and I am under half a tank. Part of me was hoping that maybe the gas gauge may be defective but in a brand new vehicle I would doubt it. I wonder if he knew that he barely filled the vehicle up half way and what he thought of himself at the time. Did he just want to get home? If he would have stood there for an extra 3 minutes it would have been full. xxxx I would have pumped it myself, I don't mind. If somebody purchased a $33,375 vehicle from me I would stand at the pump for as long as it took to at least give that customer a full tank of gas. It left a complete sour taste in my mouth. It makes me wonder if I need service down the road if corners will be cut there as well. Not something that I want to think about, but it will be in the back of my mind. I know that is something extremely small, but to me that is probably the easiest detail to take care of-no questions asked. A 16 year old would know what the gas tank was full. I sincerely hope this is not a policy all salesman follow. If I knew a friend or family member looking to purchase a vehicle I would certainly tell them of this story. Word of mouth is a powerful thing and had the salesman just filled up the tank I would have a completely different review. Customer service would have been a 5, but for this one simple aspect I dropped it to a 3. More

I had a couple of baseball sized dents in the rear passenger door, significant damage to the front bumper, and most recently a small fender bender leaving cracks and paint on my rear bumper. I received a check from the insurance company of the driver that hit me, and for about that same amount of money I received Tommy was able to 100% completely recondition my car, dents, interior and all. Its basically brand new now. I was even able to get a beautiful brand new Jeep Wrangler for the weekend while they were fixing my Camry. The friendliness of the staff and attention to detail was second to none. I'll never take my car anywhere else as long as Tommy is there. 5 stars, two thumbs up! More

Good sales experience spoiled by horrible service department My family has purchased three vehicles from Clare. All three purchases were painless and easy. The sales team is great. Our experience with their service department has been less than satisfactory. We purchased pre-owned vehicles, the first car we couldn’t get ahead: there was always something wrong with it, always needed something—it was lower mileage, economy car that was in great shape, had good ratings for reliability, lower cost of ownership, etc. At one point we were questioned whether or not the vehicle was being properly maintained because we had not been coming to them for regular maintenance, opting to use our own mechanic and only returning to the dealership for major, warranty issues. After a year of constant repairs and problems we wrote the car off as a dud—and negotiated into something else. One of the “rules” being that we had to come to Clare for all maintenance. So far so good on the second car. Our third vehicle from Clare was five years old at the time of purchase, and had about 90K on it. However, the car has great ratings as far as cost of ownership and reliability, and I have some friends that have the same vehicle with many more miles 250k. So the mileage thing wasn’t a concern. It’s very affordable to run, and seemed like an awesome car. 3,000 after purchasing it, it needed new brakes, and after driving it for 4,000 miles it needed a new transmission. I have an extended warranty which is the only thing that has saved me in this situation. Getting a new transmission was a three week ordeal with many false claims that the car was “all fixed” only to drive two minutes down the road and determine that the car was in the same or worse condition. They swear they road tested the car though. Furthermore, I was charged for things that should have been covered under the warranty and this most recent time I had to call Chrysler because they wanted to charge me my warranty’s deductible a third time---even though I had read the warranty paperwork that stated I wouldn’t be charged for the repair of the same issue when multiple repairs are attempted within 30 days. I don’t care much about superficial things, dings and dents and scratches on my car don’t bother me. It’s important to me that the vehicle run. With that said, nothing screams sloppy or rush job when cardboard with dirty, greasy foot prints is left in the passenger side of the vehicle, greasy footprints are found on the driver’s side, and even more exciting greasy foot prints found in the back seat for the customer to find. I would not recommend purchasing a used car from Clare without the extended warranty. I do not recommend using their service department for anything. They give you loaner cars with no fuel in them, they don’t know or understand the warranty programs (warranty was purchased at the dealership by the way), they belittle you when you question them, they don’t apologize for the multiple trips to have the same issue fixed, etc. They had my car this last time for over a week and did nothing to update me on its status/progress when they were expecting the parts to come in, etc. More

But I found that as years pass, people retire or move on. I liked calling my past (Buick) sales/service department and I knew who they were, we had a great working relationship. I normally don't work in the Raytheon plant in Middletown RI, but on occasion I do and I am glad I did. In the search for lunch I stumbled upon Clare jeep and from the moment I pulled on the lot, I was greeting by a smiling sales lady named Victoria. I told her I was looking for a new vehicle due to the fact my lease was almost up and she let me talk and she listened! I told her my budget and what I like in a vehicle and she stirred me towards a new 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited. I never knew uconnect was like Onstar and the options in the vehicle were superb. I will visit this location for my service, refer friends & family and when my lease is up, I will revisit. Sometimes change is good, and this is one of these times.. Thank you Victoria!! More
