TL;DR: Napoli sold me a used truck with a $700 problem that THEY KNEW ABOUT. They lied and said there was nothing wrong. After, they refused to repair the vehicle or pay for someone else to repair. Ap that THEY KNEW ABOUT. They lied and said there was nothing wrong. After, they refused to repair the vehicle or pay for someone else to repair. April of 2024, I purchased a used 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500. It’s the work truck version. So there’s no extended cab. There are just two doors. There was some damage to the weather stripping around both door windows. Since I knew about that upfront, I have always accepted that I would have to pay at some point to fix that. I have never asked Napoli to pay for the weather stripping. However, after signing the paperwork but before driving the car off the lot, I noticed a strange rattling noise when I shut the passenger side door and there was no such rattle when closing the drivers side door. I got the salesman, service manager, and the owner of the dealership out to the truck and I demonstrated to them the rattle in the one door and absence of rattle in the other door. I asked them if the truck needed repair. All of them said: “No that’s a normal sound for the door of this truck”. Everything about the passenger door worked. So I foolishly believed them and didn’t get video evidence of this exchange. I drove the car for a couple months, but the rattle got louder and sounded like it was moving downward inside the door. I called the Napoli service department for an appointment to have the door looked at. The person I spoke with said: “We don’t usually work on Chevys. We don’t feel confident that we could take the door apart and put it back together correctly. You should go to the Chevy dealership across the street”. He then refused to give me a service appointment and hung up. So I GAVE THEM A CHANCE TO FIX THIS THEMSELVES. I went to the Chevy dealership, and I was shocked at the outcome. They found a 10” rusted saw blade inside the passenger side door!!!! It was the kind of blade you use on a stick to prune trees. They told me that at some point someone probably tried to break into the vehicle with the saw and accidentally dropped it inside. This would also explain how the weather stripping got damaged. They also said that anyone who knows anything about cars would have known by that rattle that there was something wrong with the door and that it needed servicing!!! Since I demonstrated the rattle to them before I drove off the lot, that confirmed to me that all three of the Napoli people knew there was a problem with the truck and LIED to me when they said it was a “normal sound”. The Chevy dealership bill came to over $700 plus and I asked them not to fix the weather stripping because I didn’t want to add to the bill. So $700 was just to get the saw blade out of the door! I went back to Napoli multiple times. I called dozens of times. I left multiple messages with the owner that were never returned. Magically the owner was “out of the building” whenever I randomly showed up. He makes his own appointments and since he never responded to my messages, I could never make an appointment to sit down and talk with him Finally I got ahold of a lesser manager who agreed to speak to the owner on my behalf. He got back to me saying that the owner would agree to pay HALF of the bill because I should have given them a chance to fix the problem here at Napoli. I told them that I tried to make an appointment with them, and then I verbatim told them what the service man on the phone said about going to Chevy and how he refused to make the appointment. Therefore, I argued, Napoli should pay the bill in full After that it was complete silence. Even this lesser manager refused to take my calls and didn’t return my messages. When I showed up at the dealership, now BOTH the owner and manager were “unavailable”. Per my contract, I can’t take them to small claims court. I have to take them to independent arbitration that I would lose cause I have no proof that they knew. Napoli scr*wed me and I can’t do anything about it More
