Jim Bunt the service manager was informative and introduced me to the sales manager, who assigned David Nu pleasant experience with Dick Dyer Toyota. Jim Bunt the service manager was informative and introduced me to the sales manager, who assigned David Nudelman to help me with my decision. David was professional, kind, and I did not feel the least bit pressured to buy a car. I bought it from David because he made me feel comfortable. I would highly recommend David to anyone for sales and Jim Bunt for any service. It is refreshing that my experience was excellent on all levels, sales and service. More
We have been diligently looking for our daughter a car (especially the Camry) for the past 6 months. It's her first vehicle of her own as she heads off to college this fall. We have looked at numerous we (especially the Camry) for the past 6 months. It's her first vehicle of her own as she heads off to college this fall. We have looked at numerous websites and visited several dealerships in Sumter, Lugoff and Florence, SC. We had seen a Camry @ Dick Dyer's website and even though it was an hour's drive from our house....it was well worth the drive. The entire shopping/buying experience was a pleasure...unlike some I've experienced where I've been treated condescendingly because I was a woman doing the car shopping (even being asked "Don't we need to wait for your husband before we go over the details?")or have been laughed at (even with my husband with me) when we told them what our budget was and what features we wanted on the car. It was like "You must still believe in the tooth fairy, lady!" Funny, Dick Dyer had the perfect car with everything just the way we wanted it and a price and monthly payment within our budget. Maybe the tooth fairy really does exist for those who are still willing to believe! I also detest the run-around you receive at some dealerships of going back and forth on the price, and bringing in the managerial "big guns" to go over info with you, trying to pressure you and sometimes attempting to insult your intelligence, blah, blah, blah....that really gets on my nerves and was a huge waste of my time. Our experience at Dick Dyer was absolutely wonderful!!! We were treated with cordiality, respect and made to feel welcome but never pressured. Our salesman (David Nudelman) was a true pleasure to work with. He was very attentive to our needs as well as comfort the entire time we were at the dealership. He was very knowledgeable about the vehicle (a certified 2007 Camry)as well as pointing out features and info about the warranty/guarantee that came with a certified Toyota product. This was very helpful and influential in the decision-making process since 1) we've never owned a Toyota product before so was not familiar with the warranty and 2) we've never owned a "certified" vehicle before which really impressed us once we were provided with the info of what it takes for a vehicle to even qualify to be a "certified" Toyota. I feel like we practically have a new car (with all the rigorous inspections, etc.) at a used car price. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND shopping/buying @ Dick Dyer Toyota in Columbia, SC. I now know the perfect place to go for my future vehicle purchases for myself and my family. More
My husband and I went to Dick Dyer Toyota to trade in our F150 for a new Toyota Camry. We are both young and do not have much credit established, however, David and Gary were able to work with us and get us F150 for a new Toyota Camry. We are both young and do not have much credit established, however, David and Gary were able to work with us and get us approved for a brand new 2011 Camry with 0% interest for 60 months and a GREAT waranty!!! This was such a wonderful experience! David was not the pushy salesman that most people think of when they think about car salesmen. I would absolutely recommend this dealership and, if possible, try to work with David Nudleman. More

I was in a bind to get a used car last year after I totaled my Scion. I had a good experience purchasing my Scion new a few years back, so I went back to Dick Dyer Toyota. After I was assured that th totaled my Scion. I had a good experience purchasing my Scion new a few years back, so I went back to Dick Dyer Toyota. After I was assured that the vehicle I was looking at was mechanically sound, I decided to purchase it that day. The next morning, I noticed something leaking out of the engine. Freaking out, I immediately took it to a trusted mechanic. He said he couldn't find the source of the leak, and that it must have been what they used to clean the engine. About a week later, my air conditioning stopped working completely. I took it in to the shop at Dick Dyer, and, after 2 hours, they told me they "didn't know" what was wrong with it and that I should take it to a different mechanic. After bringing it to a different dealership, I found out that the compressor had exploded - throwing metal pieces all throughout my AC system. Upon researching the issue, I read that it is a very noticeable sound when the AC system breaks like it did. I never heard anything - and I have a feeling the leaking fluid was freon that was pumped into the vehicle so the sucker that bought it (me) would be under the impression that the AC was working just fine. It will be about $2000+ to get my AC working again. Not only did they sell me a car that was known to have a major issue - but they also used bait-and-switch - changing a single digit in the VIN so that the CarFax report and online advertisement was for a completely different car of the same model. Not even a month after my AC stopped working, the car broke down on the highway and needed a $300 valve repair. I will never again stop at Dick Dyer Toyota, and continue to warn friends and acquaintances that they cannot trust the sales or mechanics team at that dealership. More
I always come to this dealership for SERVICE (routine maintenance) on my Toyota Tundra. Good amount of wait time and the waiting area is cozy and kid friendly. I decided to go back for SALES on an up maintenance) on my Toyota Tundra. Good amount of wait time and the waiting area is cozy and kid friendly. I decided to go back for SALES on an upgrade for the newer Tundras. As we got there, we were immediately greeted as we walked thru the doors. The person helping us was very courteous at first. He allowed us to test drive the truck we wanted. We gave him all the information he needed to start the purchasing process. He then asked if we had a downpayment. Since we were trading in a truck we still had payments on, it was considered an upside down sale- meaning we would be negative. I told him we weren't going to put anything down. He gave me a look as if I were crazy or something. He then asked for my keys to send it off for an appraisal. As I was handing it to him, customers came walking thru the door. They were his customers, probably back to close on a deal or something. I ignored it as he greeted them. I waited outside while my husband and child stayed inside the dealership. After about 5 minutes, my husband walks out with our keys and says "he told me we can't get it without a downpayment". I couldn't believe it at first so I went inside myself to ask him. He said, I handed to the keys back to your husband and we are good". There infront of him were the customers who just walked thru the doors. I knew he blew us off when his previously customers came in. This infuriated me! How can he say we didn't qualify when #1- he didn't get the truck appraised yet and #2- we didn't start negotiations. Was this his choice or Financing's choice? I have never had this kind of treatment before!! So we drove off to another dealership (Toyota) in West Columbia. There, we were greeted by a gentleman who was ready to help us out. Very kind, listened to our needs. We found a Toyota Tundra Crewmax that was perfect so we started negotiations. We were at the dealership until 11:30pm (almost 4 hours), we eventually drove off with our dream truck. Excellent service from everyone that worked with us especially the salesman who greeted us and never left us the whole time. I don't understand how we were able to take home a new truck from that dealership and not from Dick Dyer's lot. Loss for that salesman from there but a gain for the other who was more than excellent. First, I went to another Toyota dealership in the Columbia area looking to buy a new Tacoma and they gave me the deal I was looking for in 10 minutes. I decided to try DDT to see what they would do. Columbia area looking to buy a new Tacoma and they gave me the deal I was looking for in 10 minutes. I decided to try DDT to see what they would do. After 2 hours of the salesperson running to the manager to get answers for my questions, they were nowhere near the deal I already had. They even tried to pawn off a used vehicle at still an inflated price. When I told them they had to do better they assured me no one could beat their deal. I never told them about the deal I already had. When I had enough of DDT, I told them thanks but no thanks. The salesperson acted like I had shot his dog. I won't be back.... More
