Rude and Unprofessional Staff I was in the market for a new Mazda CX-5 late June 2018 and called the dealership after doing some research on numbers. I was transferred to sales rep I was in the market for a new Mazda CX-5 late June 2018 and called the dealership after doing some research on numbers. I was transferred to sales rep Stephen Otto, who sounded extremely flustered, and told me that "theres no way I can see you today, but if you stop by I can see if I can fit you in". Okay, so I made the 15 mile drive to Valley Stream Mazda. When I arrived, the entire dealership was empty, not a single customer to be seen. The front desk was very polite and courteous, and let me to Mr. Otto's desk. After test driving the car, I had asked Mr. Otto to go over some numbers with me, which I already had done my research, including MSRP, residual value, money factor, incentives, etc. Mr. Otto seemed quite unsure of his own figures, even pulling out a binder of "past sales', and showing me what other (unfortunate customers who didn't do their due diligence) paid for on their vehicles. After roughly 30 minutes of back and forth between both appraising my trade-in and negotiating a lease deal for the CX-5, we finally reached their "best number". During this time, Mr. Otto had run off to his finance manager, Mr. Kevin Persaud at least 5 times, the classic good guy bad guy move at car dealerships. I had asked for a couple of minutes to call my friend to discuss these numbers with him since he has far more adept at these matters. I went to their waiting area, and was on the phone with my friend. After deciding that I should shop around more for the best deal, I asked for our agreed-upon deal in writing and asked him when these figures were guaranteed until, which Mr. Otto replied "nothing in life is guaranteed". After this appointment, I shopped around to the neighboring Mazda dealerships and realized that Valley Stream did offer me the best numbers, and I made a call to Mr. Otto again the following week. Granted, this was the week of July 4th, and that every dealerships that I had spoken to prior had told me that Mazda USA's incentives would be extended to July 5th, and that would be the June's month-end date. I called Mr. Otto at 2pm in the afternoon and told him that I would like to lease the car from him at that rate that was stated the previous week. He sounded delighted and asked for a copy of my license and registration in order to run the credit check. By 3pm, after I had sent my information over, I still did not hear from Mr. Otto. I called back at least 5-6 times to his personal cell phone to no response. I then called Mazda of Valley Stream and asked to speak to the finance manager, Kevin Persaud, whom I had never met face to face, was never introduced to (I only knew his name because I did research on the dealership prior to visiting the first time). Mr. Persaud is the reason why I am writing such a negative review of this dealership. When he answered the phone, his attitude was rude and unprofessional. I explained the situation to Mr. Persaud, that we were in the midst of starting the lease process with the previously agreed-upon figures. He replied to me "Oh yeah, I remember you, I saw you last week, why didn't you take the deal then? Now it's too late". I had told him that I needed to make the best financial decision for myself, and that was to shop around for the best deal. And that every dealership including Mazda USA stated that their monthly June incentives would still be in effect till July 5th. Mr. Persaud then got very aggressive and said that "No, thats absolutely not true, you should get your facts straight and not waste our time. When I sat down with you last week, we had these numbers worked out, why didnt' you take it then?'. I was baffled and aghast at the way that a finance manager was talking to a potential customer. 1) Unless Mazda of Valley Stream did not follow Mazda USA's incentives nor end of month scheduling, Mr. Persaud was lying straight to my face. 2) Even if what he said was true, Mr. Persaud, as a high ranking member of the dealership, should not have asked me why I "wasted his time", when I NEVER was even introduced to him at all, therefore he was still lying when he said he "sat down with me". All in all, after shopping around at every single Mazda dealership in the area, 5 to be exact. Mazda of Valley Stream gave me competitive pricing, but due to their unprofessional and atrocious demeanor, I decided to go to Bayridge Mazda, whom I received incredible service and got an even better deal. I will be writing a review on my experience with that dealership as well. Mr. Otto, though a salesman, should not proceed with something he cannot finish. And lastly, Mr. Persaud, I'm not sure what was under your skin that day, for you to lash out at a potential customer, but if you're going to be defensive just because your customer knows his numbers, and will try to get the best deal, then you are unfit to be a manager at all. As we enter the lot my husband and myself were approached by Henry who was very helpful and knowledgeable of the car we were interested in. He made me feel very comfortable and answered any questions or concerns. He was very personable and friendly. I would recommend him to all of my family and friends. Dave my salesman was terrific everything after that was down I bought my car and Dave was wonderful is guiding me through the pitfalls of a purchase . I retained the dealership to register the vehicle ...on the Saturday before the expiration of my temporary registration I called the dealership and was assured I would be getting a call back on Monday. After waiting most of the Monday fro the call I again made a call to the dealership and was forwarded to the title dept. who told me the registration was mailed and that she was not responsible for it after that...I then asked for Tom the financial closer explained what a happened and his answer was go the DMV yourself it is only three dollars its out od our hands now. I went to DMV had to take a day off and was issued a new registration. The next day all of a sudden my registration came in the mail envelope not sealed . I am upset the dealership cant take care of the little items that make you want to go back. and recommend them to other friends.. I will be searching for another dealership to service my vehicle. More
I was in need of a great car quickly and he did a wonderful So I ended up here after about 6 dealerships! They all were trying to catch me with hidden fees except David and his team!
