These two men made sure my long day was as pleasant as possible and tried to make sure that I got as close as possible to what I wanted. I never felt as though I was being pressured into anything. In fact I felt as though I was getting more than I had anticipated. I saw smiles all over the dealership. Andrew went above and beyond what I expected. I will recommend Kia of Auburn , in fact I already have. Thank you guys!!!! I love the car! More

Someone always coming by checking on us to see if we need anything while we are waiting, they always go over everything with us. Always a pleasant experience. We love our Kia, gets great gas mileage, just took a six week trip and got over 34 miles per gallon even in the mountains. We have owned several Lincoln SUV's, and this car is just as comfortable and gets much better mileage, and handles so well. We know when we get ready to trade again, I am sure it will be a Kia. More

Normally they are looked down upon as a place that has a very negative energy. That being said I have worked in Customer Service my entire career and I know when you’re interested in making something right or making something easy. With that out of the way, this was my experience at Kia of Auburn. I had been getting the new car itch for a while, most people that know me, know that I really like cars. I have seen 18 seasons of BBC’s Top Gear and the whole season of The Tour. I even watched some of the terrible American versions of the show. I had been looking around using different sources and finally decided that it was time for a change. I got one of those random letters in the mail saying, “we want your car”, which we all know is just a marketing scam. I figured what the heck, go in and see what they could give me for my 2014 Kia Optima. I made an appointment and then headed there to check it out. When I arrived, I could tell that they didn’t really know why I was there but the salesman TJ seemed like a nice guy. Of course while we were looking they ran a credit check without my permission but that’s the price of doing business. If you step foot on a car lot they are going to try and check your credit history. For me it's not a big deal, I have been working for about two years to get my score in a really good place. So we look around at some different used cars but they didn’t have a huge selection. No matter that, I found one that I really liked. It was a 2016 Kia Sportage with a lot of options and fairly low miles. It seemed like a good fit, a crossover that would give me good gas milage but was bigger than my current ride. After they run the numbers they told me that unfortunately the Sportage wouldn’t be a good idea because of how upside down I was on the Optima. It was mostly carry over debt from my Hyundai Veloster I had a couple years ago (You’re my boy Blue!). I knew this already and TJ let me know that he could get me a deal on a 2017 Sorento because of some dealer bonuses etc. He said they would basically wipe out my negative equity and I’d have a brand new car. Sounded like a good idea to me, I know most of you will probably scoff at the idea of a brand new car but it was something I had never had before. My first ever car was an 88 Chevy Blazer with 300k + miles and tons of issues. When I got rid of that car the oldest thing on it was the paint. I have had a few used that were close to new but nothing was “Factory Fresh”. So I said what the xxxx, you’re going to be owing someone a car payment anyways, why not make it yours. So we went back and forth as you always do about payments, whatever whatever. I am sure that everyone that reads this has been through the dog and pony show of car dealing. Can you do this price? How about this? What can we do to get your business today? Everyone at the place was courteous and no one really felt like they were trying to work you over. Eventually we got the deal done and TJ said, “I will go have it detailed and gassed up, we can have you out of here pretty soon.” Unfortunately, pretty soon turned into not so soon and when he came back I could tell something was up. He told me that the car was having battery issues and that he would need the service department to look at it. He instructed me to drive my Optima to work and that he would hand deliver the Sorento to me. At this point I didn't have much of an option, I was already late for work so I gave the old girl one last voyage to Tiger Town. Eventually, TJ dropped off the car and everything was good. I worked and got off that night and headed home. Didn’t really have any issues. We decided to go get some Ice Cream as a method of celebrating. This is when the issues started. I let my girlfriend drive the car maybe .25 miles to the mailbox and she started asking about the steering and why it was so hard to turn. I didn’t think anything about it and I took over driving, sure enough very hard to turn. Immediately lights started firing off on the dashboard, I made it another .10 miles and the car shut off completely. Luckily, I was close enough to a parking spot to pull it in without issue. I tried to turn it over, nothing. I tried again, nothing. The second time everything cut off. It was pretty late at this point and we decided to take her car and that I would check on the Sorento when we got back. 45 minutes later we came back and I had her drop me off at my new blue paperweight. I got in and turned it over and, “Viola!”, everything came back on. I drove it 30 feet and it all started happening again, I was able to get it into a parking spot in the adjacent lot to my building and went inside. I was pretty bummed out to have a new car that didn’t seem like it wanted to be my car. The next morning, I figured that it would be best just to take it back to the dealer. I went out and it started up fine. I started the journey of 1.5 miles to the dealership and things were going better. At the .30 mile mark things took a turn for the worst. The dashboard immediately became illuminated with signals again. My steering started to go out but I was in the right hand lane. As long as I didn’t have to turn everything would be fine. After the next .3 miles the speed went from 45 to 15, and then from 15 to 5. Everything electronic in the car shut off, I had no AC, Speedometer, or Radio. I also didn't have any turn signals which will come into play later. The car was puttering along but I was still moving, I went another .10 miles and the car completely shut off in the road. Dead stop, no power, not even a dome light. Needless to say in today’s driving world people aren’t the most attentive of drivers. So less than 24 hours after getting my new car, I was flagging cars away from smashing it into bits. The lights didn’t work so I didn’t have hazards. I couldn’t really try to push the car into Neutral without worrying about someone slamming into the car from behind. I called the dealership and they sent someone out to help me guide it into a nearby lot and he instructed me to call roadside assistance to have it towed to the dealer. Thats right, the day after buying a new car I am pushing it down the road. So I get to the dealership and TJ the salesman has a new Sorento pulled up in front ready for me to take to work while they sort out my new, not so new car. The new one is basically the same, it has an upgraded stereo and a few other options but it’s black. Not really my favorite color but I liked the options it had. So I drive that Sorento for roughly a week. I still didn’t think it was my favorite color but after a week you start to get a connection with a vehicle. It had the options I liked and from the driver seat you can’t see the color anyways. So throughout the week I send the salesman text messages about getting everything squared away. Essentially I asked that I just stay in the car that I was driving and that I didn’t want the other one back. Who wants to get a car that has issues on Day 0? My texts were always responded with vague answers but I knew it wasn’t up to him. Of course the location preaches making it right for the customer so I figured this would be an easy one. Switch over the VIN numbers on the paperwork, eat whatever minimal cost difference there is, and make the customer, me, happy. As the week went on everything seemed to be leaning towards me keeping the loaner. I had a couple busy days and had really put the thing through its paces. It had a good bit of miles when I dropped it off. So the day comes to talk to the General Manager about getting everything right. I knew once I sat down in that chair that I wasn’t going to be keeping the loaner. They brought in another dog and pony show of this Service Manger this, service mechanic that, Certified Kia blah blah blah. You get the picture. I told them look, I didn’t ask for this to happen, your car didn’t follow through with what you had promised. So you gave me another car to drive and now I like it better, mainly because it doesn’t threaten my life or the life of others on the road by just casually shutting off. Plus after a week of driving it, I don’t really know anything different because the one I purchased has been here, in the shop. The service manager went on another diatribe about stuff and at this point I was raging. Not like The Hulk, but more like when you’ve asked your Mom for candy three times at the store and she just ran into someone from church. It’s more of a tight lipped warning of your impending doom type of rage. The General Manager didn’t want to have to recall the loan and redo the paperwork is what it boiled down to. I get it, I have had many a times where a customer wanted me to do something I could give two craps about. Unfortunately, that’s part of the job. Serve the customer. Make sure that they can’t go write a three page paper about the whole experience. Give them a reason to want to praise you, not do what you feel like doing. I am not saying that if the tables were turned I would act any differently but I am just putting out there my thoughts. The manager tried to give me some “free maintenance” down the road. I told him to keep it and just give me the car. If this thing needs to have anymore maintaince I'll just drive it through the front door and into the showroom. I didn’t say that but I thought about it. So I have a new/old car to break in. She’s like a solider (cars are girls, duh) that went out to war and is just coming home for the first time in a decade. I’m different, she’s different but we know each other. Overall I would say that the salesman did everything he could to make it right. The dealership did what was easy and in the end got their way. Would I ever deal with Kia of Auburn again? Nope. Would I tell anyone else to go there and make a deal with them? No not really, It’s like your parents would always say when you screwed up, “I’m not mad at you, I am just disappointed.” Thanks for reading, Barry Lynn Neal More

Afterwards I planned on touring their inventory and possibly buying a new 2017 Kia Sorento. However, when I walked into the service center there were three employees at the desks. One was helping another customer. The other two absolutely acted like I didn't even exist. Never said Hello. Never made eye contact. Much less ask me what I needed help with. I stood just feet in front of them while one spun in his chair like a kindergartener and the other played on his phone. Absolutely unacceptable and inexcusable. More

The salesman,Damon Johnson, just let me know that he would be available and would look forward to meeting us if we got a chance to stop by. Damon was awesome! Never pushy and very professional. He had knowledge about the product he was selling and what he didn't know he went and found out. I had not made up my mind about what new vehicle I wanted. Our experience with Damon and how he made us feel very comfortable is what sealed the deal on this purchase. The financing and service department were also exceptionally professional and courteous. And to know how highly rated Kia of Auburn's service department is makes us very sure that we made the right choice in this major purchase. All around top notch and i would refer everyone I know to do business with this company. More
