When it comes to expensive repairs, it is human nature for people to believe that a less expensive repair is the correct resolution and that the more expensive quote was just trying to take advantage. Maybe that is true in some cases with some other companies, but not so in this case. Our diagnosis was based on strict use of the Honda diagnostic troubleshooting steps. This is a reliable procedure created by one of the greatest automotive companies in the world and we have no reason to second guess it. Yes, the symptom you experienced can be temporarily resolved by replacing a less expensive sensor. The cause of the problem is intermittent. And until the fault occurs again you will believe that replacing the sensor resolved your problem. But when the faut occurs again, and the new sensor recognizes the same fault as the old sensor, your Check Engine light will illuminate and you will more than likely have to replace the stretched timing chain. Sorry for the bad news. No hard feelings for the harmful survey. We are here to help in the future if you need us.
