I brought my car to Joyce Honda for an issue covered by Honda’s head gasket warranty extension. The car was running rough, losing coolant, and a reputable independent shop had already diagnosed coolant int Honda’s head gasket warranty extension. Joyce Honda told me they would not proceed unless the check engine light or an active misfire code was present. They advised me to continue driving the car until the light came on or the car broke down, and then have it towed back to them. That advice was extremely concerning. The car was already confirmed to be leaking coolant into a cylinder. Continuing to drive with an unresolved head gasket failure can potentially lead to much more serious engine damage, including overheating, warping, or cracking. A repair that may only require a head gasket can become a much larger cylinder head or engine block repair if the damage progresses. I called another Honda dealer immediately after Joyce Honda gave me the car back. They took the car that same day, even though there was still no check engine light. By the next day, they had confirmed the head gasket diagnosis and approved the repair under Honda’s warranty extension. The car is already in the process of being repaired. That makes Joyce Honda’s handling of this even more disappointing. I was essentially told to keep driving a known mechanical failure until it became severe enough to trigger a warning light or leave me stranded, while another Honda dealer was able to inspect, diagnose, and begin the warranty repair immediately. I would not return to Joyce Honda for service. More
