Original review follows, I am updating in response to an updated outcome today. Today I had my tires looked at again elsewhere and it was brought to my attention that the new tire that was installed on updated outcome today. Today I had my tires looked at again elsewhere and it was brought to my attention that the new tire that was installed on my vehicle was not the same size as the other 3, which was the source of all of the tpms problems. Once I brought this mistake up with Joyce they were apologetic and went beyond expectations to make things right replacing the other 3 tires to match the new one at their own expense. It is still a bother that this was missed several times, but I appreciate that they accepted responsibility for the error and did well to make up for the mistakes. ————————————————————————- One of the tires I had purchased and mounted on my vehicle some time ago started developing a crack in the sidewall recently. I took the tire to Joyce and they were able to replace it under warranty, which was an appropriate and appreciated response to the situation. Things went downhill from this point however. My vehicle has been through the service garage 5 times over 2 service visits with an unacceptable conclusion. Trip 1: Replace the tire under warranty, however the insert in the wheel hub was installed incorrectly, pinching and making unavailable the valve stem. This had to be obvious to the mechanic as they were not able to reach the stem to replace the cap. Trip 2: Remount the wheel with the insert in the correct orientation. Leaving after receiving my car a second time the car reported a TPMS problem immediately. Trip 3: Return to the garage again. I was told my car “doesn’t even have TPMS sensors, but we will look at it”, resulting in “we reset things”. TPMS problem alert again almost immediately upon leaving. I couldn’t afford another wait and needed to go to work so I called to schedule a follow up Day 2 trip 1: I left the car to avoid waiting hours again, received word that the problem was fixed after “using the laptop”. TPMS problem again within a mile or so of leaving. Day 2 trip 2: Waited for quite some time while the tire was remounted and rotated to try and make the system happy. I appreciate that efforts were made but the advisors conclusion was that the problem could not be fixed without another new (and frankly unnecessary) tire to appease the sensors. Was told to wait a few days to hear back once a manager was consulted. Later: Received a call saying that my options were to purchase a new tire or drive with a non functioning TPMS system until the other 3 tires wear out (probably another 20,000-30,000 miles) and all 4 can be replaced. This is not the first time a car I purchased from and had serviced by Joyce has had a problem like this, I recall numerous trips to the service dept to get the TPMS light to stop lighting up on my 2010 CRV as well. At least that time they were eventually able to get the sensor working/replaced costing me only my time and not unnecessary parts. Later still I did get a call from the service manager to explain that the way the tire sensors work on this vehicle work, it is indeed necessary to have paired tires and that I should have been informed of this up front and not after 2 separate service appointments and several hours waiting. Given the time wasted and poor communication I do not consider this an acceptable outcome and I will be using a different Honda dealer going forward. More
