Overall, I had a good experience with Jack Ellena. I shopped around and most of the sales people I dealt with didn't know any more about the vans I was looking at than I did from doing preliminary resea shopped around and most of the sales people I dealt with didn't know any more about the vans I was looking at than I did from doing preliminary research online. That wasn't the case with Dave; he definitely knew his stuff. The other people I dealt with were also friendly and professional. The price was far and away the best I found on the kind of van I was looking for and my wife and I are very pleased with the van itself. Another big plus was that they were willing to switch tires on the vehicle I ended up buying. While I was there, I drove two vans. The tires on the van I bought were noticeably louder than those on the other one. I asked if they could be switched and they did that for me, which I really appreciated. The experience could have been better, though, for a couple reasons. One is that when they switched the tires, they didn't re-calibrate the tire pressure monitoring system. The light for the system (not the low pressure indicator) came on while I was driving home and, since we don't live in Lawrence, my wife had to bring the van to the local Honda dealer. It was a quick fix, so it wasn't too big a deal but it was an annoyance. There was also a discrepancy regarding the oil change, which I'm pretty sure was straightened out. The other thing that bothered me was they didn't give me a full tank of gas. I've purchased 3 other vehicles from other dealers and they all threw in a tank of gas. After we negotiated the price at Jack Ellena, I offhandedly mentioned that I wanted them to fill it up. Dave informed me that they're only legally required to put in 1/4 of a tank. I was surprised because I expected them to do it as a courtesy without having to ask. Monty was standing there at the time and he said he would "take care of it" before I came to pick up the van the next day. I thought he meant that it would have a full tank, but apparently not because when I picked it up there was exactly 1/4 tank. I know that in the grand scheme of things 15 gallons of gas is pretty small potatoes, but I was disappointed that the first thing I had to do after spending many thousands of dollars on a vehicle was to drive straight to a gas station to put fuel in it. It also shows that, in at least one area, they're content to do the absolute bare minimum for their customers. Overall, like I said, I had a pleasant experience at Jack Ellena Honda, we really like our van and as far as price goes, they were easily the best. However, a couple of small things on their part could have made a much better lasting impression. More
