Hyundai of St. Augustine takes advantage of senior citizen women! My mother is older and this company has got almost $6K in catalytic convertor (3 of them! On a 2017 Tuscon!) repairs in the last 2 years. The last 2 catalytic converters have only lasted about 7 months each- so maybe they were used ones put on her vehicle! My family is outraged at this! She had all her preventative maintenance done at this place as well- something shady is going on. They want another $1200 from her to “see” if they can get it running. Outrageous.

If it was my car I would have returned it. 23' Elantra with 2400 miles, TPMS light goes on, have my daughter bring the car to the dealer, 3 months old, under warranty you THINK, nope. Claims More

It is inconclusive whether the mark was there prior to her bringing it in, so we will be replacing the trim piece at no charge. What about the initial complaint saying my daughter damaged the tire and sensor. It’s always easy to blame someone else so there is no responsibility. I checked with another dealer and with no visible physical damage to the tire, rim or body of the car they would have covered it under warranty and recouped the tire price from the OEM.

Our apologies but based on the analysis of the service advisor and technician, the damage to the TPMS sensor was caused by impact which is not covered under warranty. The Hyundai of St. Augustine service team.

That was his guess. My theory was that the TPMS sensor was installed incorrectly causing it to bulge into the tire and over time causing the sensor to break. There was NO sign of impact that could have caused that sensor to break without damaging the rim and there was no sign of external damage to the tire, i.e. scuffs or scrapes that validate his analysis.
