BUYER BEWARE! Buyer beware! Although I feel I negotiated a good price for the vehicle with an attractive interest rate, the dealer felt it necessary to charge $595 Buyer beware! Although I feel I negotiated a good price for the vehicle with an attractive interest rate, the dealer felt it necessary to charge $595 for "VIN etching" without my prior approval and slipped it in during the financing paperwork process. The finance manager claimed that it was something that was done on all of their vehicles and I was obliged to pay for it whether I wanted it or not. Come to find out that not only is this a classic dealer scam, but my vehicle doesn't even have the VIN etched on the Windows! It's shady tactics like that which make the new car buying experience so unpleasant. More
