Hi John, I was hoping the service writer would actually put on the RO the exact issue I was suspecting: excess ring and pinion wear. There is just a generic "makes a clunk when changing from forward to reverse:. The service tech says its "normal". I know it's not normal. I even asked for the rear end fluid to be changes the the service writer said: "it's not due until 100k miles" I wanted it done so the tech could check the condition of the fluid and get an idea of the wear. Now what happens when the ring and pinion fail? Chevy will look at the RO and say "it checked out normal at 49,000 miles, you're on your own". And why wouldn't they. I would if the RO was written that way too. I'm pretty worried the rear end should be changed out, the amount of wear undoubtedly loaded up the rear end with shavings, etc, wearing everything else(bearings, etc) out prematurely. I need an oil change and will schedule for that, and for the rear end fluid to be changed, It would be great if you could see that the RO be updated to reflect my concerns when I was there on 12/2/21.
