Used car buyers beware. I bought a Ford Escape from Capitol Nissan. The transmission died before I even hit the first 100 miles. When I Initially took the vehicle for a test drive, there was an obvious Capitol Nissan. The transmission died before I even hit the first 100 miles. When I Initially took the vehicle for a test drive, there was an obvious problem with the wheels making noise. I was told that would be fixed if I purchased it. Because used cars are hard to come by right now, I had it written in the contract that they needed to fix the issue and paid cash. When I picked it up a few days later after “detailing and service” nothing had been done to address the wheel issue. On top of that, the A/C no longer worked. I was literally told that the mechanics “dropped the ball”. They rectified the issues (only because I had it in the contract). A few days later, the car jerking became pretty obvious. Before I hit my first 100 miles, the car died on me in the middle of market street. When I called to discuss with the service department why the car didn’t get a proper inspection, I was told that I bought the car “As is” and declined the extended warranty that cost 1/3 of the car itself… considering the mechanics dropped the ball on the initial inspection, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that they knew the car was already sold and didn’t care about it’s condition or the person purchasing the vehicle. Now, I’m aware of the risk in buying a used car, but the fact that there was absolutely no accountability, no apology, nothing done to make it right, is a disgrace. Now I’m out another $3,300 for a transmission. I’d expect this from a small car lot or buying on Craigslist, but not from a major dealership. Shameful that they treat their customers this way. More
