I recommend this dealership because over all customer service was great starting from the sales person Mr. Howard Bonfield. I have done a great deal of research before I actually bought a car from this place. My research involved the car I wanted, price I was willing to pay, quality, and reputation of the brand. Don't just take my word for it see for your self before you actually buy a car do a little research check around New York/ New York City area dealership(s). I guarantee that you will see and feel a major difference in customer service. So any-one reading this review and is in the market for a new or used car call Bill Kolb Jr. Subaru and make an appointment to come see for your self. More
Howard was a pleasure to deal with. Excellent working knowledge of the brand. Price was good overall, but only because I feel I can always get a better price (no matter how low the price I always want i knowledge of the brand. Actually my answer to whether I'd recommend this dealership is neither a definitive yes nor a clear no. Many buyers might find them easy to deal with because of their no-haggle price policy. I too dealership is neither a definitive yes nor a clear no. Many buyers might find them easy to deal with because of their no-haggle price policy. I too was pleased with this approach at first, especially since it initially seemed to me that their pricing was right on target. However, by the time the purchase was completed I found they had slipped in several hundred dollars of additional charges that either hadn't been explained to me when we were negotiating the price of the vehicle, or that it later turned out were optional although the salesman had told me they were not. I've been buying used cars for approximately 30 years and have developed an extensive system for researching the price of any car that I'm considering buying. I assume my end figures are fairly accurate because I am pretty much always able to get the price I want after some negotiation. Bill Kolb's salesman was very clear front the outset that they did not negotiate, but that was ok with me because the price they were asking was pretty much just where I would have expected it to be. They came in a little lower than I was hoping for on the value of my trade-in vehicle, but it was still within the range I'd expected from my research. It was not until we'd agreed on a price and given the salesman a deposit on the car that their finance manager casually mentioned to us that they only had one key to the car and no remote. According to him the second key would cost us an additional $200 and the remote another $91. When we objected to these additional charges and ultimately decided not to purchase the remote he found that there actually was a remote available for the car after all. We felt we really had to have two keys, so we went ahead and purchased the second key, although we made it clear that we weren't happy about being charged extra for something that is usually considered standard equipment to be automatically included in any car purchase. Unfortunately this wasn't the full extent of the additional charges that the dealership intended to charge us for that second key. It wasn't until we came back to pick up the new key that we were told that there was an additional $78 charge for programming the key. When I became really upset at all these add-on charges they eventually did agree to waive that last $78 charge as evidnece that they "really do want to keep their customers happy". I appreciate that, but I still feel that I shouldn't have been charged for the second key at all. In addition to these various charges, they also added on $200 to file my paperwork with DMV. When I suggested that I would prefer to handle that myself they told me that wasn't an option, and when I questioned the amount of the charge they assured me that that was DMV's fee. It wasn't until well after the transaction had been finalized, when I was reviewing the paperwork that I had received at the very end, that I saw that there was a $75 charge for filing the paperwork and that it was apparently "optional" after all. So, in summary, although the dealership's price for the car and offer for my trade-in were more or less right where I felt they should be, they attempted to add on an additional $444 that I don't believe I should have been charged. Although they eventually did drop $169 of those charges, that was only after I expressed a fair amount of displeasure at their practices. Since I don't believe these fees should have been charged in the first place I don't feel that dropping them was a special courtesy for which I should be grateful. UPDATE: I really appreciate the time Mrs. Kolb took to listen to my concerns and her willingness to work with me to resolve them. That in itself is a very unusual and admirable practice for a dealership! Thanks to this attentiveness to problem resolution, in combination with the company's otherwise spot-on prices and trade-in values, I now feel very comfortable giving the dealership a five star rating and recommending them to anyone I know looking for a car. Thank you! More
I must say I had a wonderful experience at Bill Kolb Jr. Although they do not bargain their prices, they already provide the best deal you can get, if not better than the best. Howard was an absolute gem, Although they do not bargain their prices, they already provide the best deal you can get, if not better than the best. Howard was an absolute gem, and was very patient and thorough with all of my questions and requests to test drive. Once I was with him, I was given 100% customer service the entire time. He spent the time test driving as many vehicles I wanted and helped me secure an insurance policy. The rest of the team was great in that they helped me get solid financing. To sum it up, great staff, very professional, courteous, and caring. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a Subaru. They have the best inventory of used and new. Being the first vehicle I have ever purchased, I will be comparing every other dealership to Bill Kolb. More
This is the best experience I have ever had buying a car. The no haggle price, and after checking around, the lowest price was great. I could not have asked for a better salesman. Howard was very nice The no haggle price, and after checking around, the lowest price was great. I could not have asked for a better salesman. Howard was very nice and incredibly patient. I can’t tell you how many cars I asked to test drive before making my decision. An added bonus was I even got to meet Bill Kolb in person. Every time I was at the dealership he was there asking how he could help. Even days later, after the papers were signed, when I had stopped in just to pick up a small can of touch up paint to have on hand, I saw Howard & Bill Kolb talking to a new customer I didn’t want to interrupt so I just waved. The next day Howard called to make sure everything was OK. A salesman going out of his way to see if there is a problem! Marty, my finance person was also great. He took the time to get me the best deal with a bank that I could afford, and also patiently explained all my questions on the paperwork. This is the first time I actually felt like a dealership cared about me getting the right car for me. More
I passed by the dealership's service department this morning to see when I might be able to bring my 2012 Forester in for an adjustment. I was greeted by Cheryl and I proceeded to ask when might be a g morning to see when I might be able to bring my 2012 Forester in for an adjustment. I was greeted by Cheryl and I proceeded to ask when might be a good day and time to drop off the car. Cheryl asked if I had some time right then and there so that I would not have to make a second trip back. Within forty minutes, the adjustment was made and I was estatic. You just don't find customer service like this too often. Cheryl, thank you so much for taking care of me. For anyone looking for a great service experience, I recommend Bill Kolb Subaru and make sure that you see Cheryl. More

I have just purchased a used 2006 Subaru Forrester and by luck my Sales Representative was Jerry Taylor. Before my brother, (who was a Sales Representative at two different dealerships in the State of Flori luck my Sales Representative was Jerry Taylor. Before my brother, (who was a Sales Representative at two different dealerships in the State of Florida )passed away several years ago, I purchased most of my automobiles from my him. I was spoiled. Every, and I mean every other dealer experience has not been positive. I feel very fortunate to have come to Bill Kolb and especially to Jerry Taylor. I am very straightforward, and appreciate honesty and integrity. I am very turned off when I am "being sold" unnecessary or unwanted extras. Jerry impressed me very much. He worked to make sure that my cars' minor issues were rectified by your service department in a very quick manner. There have been many times, at different dealers that I have showed up to pick up my car at an mutually agreed upon time and was disappointed because the car wasn't ready for one reason or another. I spent a total of 70 minutes at the dealership between two total visits in a span of three nights before driving away with my very nice Subaru. I now own four Subaru's and will only buy my future cars through Jerry Taylor at Bill Kolb. Thomas Gough More
Bill Kolb Subaru has exceeded our expectations twice now. Last year we were looking for a safe car for our daughter to take to college and found a great Impreza there. They made it happen in less than a week Last year we were looking for a safe car for our daughter to take to college and found a great Impreza there. They made it happen in less than a week and the car is beautiful. This year we were looking to trade in a 2010 Outback Limited for the same in a 2012 model. Jerry found us a car that was better equiped, a 2013, with everything that we asked for and more, for a better price than we could get anywhere else. We can’t thank him enough. Al delivered the car to our door, all the way out in Oyster Bay. Jerry called right after to check in. We will definitely continue to do business with Jerry and Bill Kolb Subaru! Dale More
