Browsing for reliable cars and reputable dealers is especially difficult for a first-time buyer like myself. I visited many dealerships and experienced many kinds of sales pitches, friendly talk, and p especially difficult for a first-time buyer like myself. I visited many dealerships and experienced many kinds of sales pitches, friendly talk, and pressure tactics, all of which I didn't know quite how to handle. My visit to Bill Kolb, Jr. Subaru at first felt like all of the others, and when I was told they don't haggle their pricing, it seemed like that's how it was going to be. On my first visit my intent was to find a used car, but on my budget I later determined that I just couldn't afford financing, used or new. I did experience some pressure on that first day, when they asked if I would put down a sizable deposit on the Impreza that I test-drove after I had said I'd need time to think about how I could afford the financing. That kind of pressure is to be expected. They're trying to sell a product, after all. The difference in this case was, when I politely refused to place a deposit, they did NOT pressure me further, which is more than I can say for every other dealership I visited that same day. After taking the time to review the places I had visited and the cars I test drove, not only did I find myself gravitating to the model of car I wanted--the Subaru Impreza--but I was inclined to return to this dealership because of the sales staff. I may not have been able to afford a used Impreza through financing, but the deal they had offered WAS a fair deal for the kind of car I wanted to buy. Their initial offer was exactly in line with the sticker price. You don't see that everywhere. I returned to the dealership, this time to ask about a lease on a new Impreza, and would that be more in my price range? The answer was yes. From there, Howard set me up with a car and went over all of the details. When it was taking me longer than expected to secure insurance, I was able to extend my pick-up deadline with no penalty, and when I was finally ready to pick up the car, Howard patiently and clearly answered every question I had before I signed the agreement. He went a step further by pairing the Bluetooth in the car with my cell phone and showing me how to use the hands-free calling feature. I even met Bill Kolb, Jr. himself and we had a very pleasant conversation. Bottom line, I know I got a good deal. It's not just about the car--which is a dream to drive--but everything that comes with it, from the extra optional service package to the friendliness and honesty of the staff. If you want to haggle and pay less than a car is worth and get absolutely nothing else in exchange, there are plenty of other dealerships for that. Here you get trustworthy people, a fair initial offer, and a top quality product and service to back it up. Bottom line, I'm glad I found this dealership. More
I went to BK Subaru because they had a large selection of cars. I had visited a subaru dealership in Westchester but the selection was so limited and they didn't have the car i had in mind. He let both my daughter and I test drive the Subaru Legacy premium I was considering purchasing and I loved the no haggle pricing! Although I didn't purchase the car we test drove, I did end up purchasing the higher priced Elite and I love it! I would definitely come back to BK Subaru for another car. More
This is my 3rd vehicle through Bill Kolb Subaru. Their sales staff is friendly/not pushy and they work to get you exactly what you are looking for as far as vehicle/price are concerned. We dropped in to see Richard Knel about a used Forester and ended up purchasing same day. Again Richard was listening to our needs as we have purchased our 2nd Subaru from him. Everyone at the dealership is highly professional and very friendly. The service department does an excellent job, and always gets me out in under an hour. Every aspect of this dealership deserves the highest rating and I would highly recommend it. More
