Honda’s, Toyota’s, Mi Hi, I am a 57 yr. old man with a family of 5. I have been purchasing new cars ever since I started driving at the raw age of 18. Honda’s, Toyota’s, Mitsubishi’s, Chrysler’s, Hyundai’s, etc.etc. My philosophy has always been, why purchase someone else‘s potential problems (buy new). That’s just my thought process, as to each his own! In any event, I was in the market to attain my 20 yr. old son a car back in March, 2014. He said that he wanted a Subaru WRX STI or WRX (Sedan). Since he decided not to go to college & works a full time job, I told him that I would help him out. I knew nothing about a WRX STI. I have many friends who have owned Subaru’s for years & rave about their performance, reliability, longevity etc. I called 5 Subaru dealerships in the N.Y./N.J. locale and set up appointments to meet with them regarding a WRX STI or WRX. As I mentioned earlier, this isn’t my “First Rodeo” procuring a new car. My strategy has always been to play “hard ball” from the start! I am very respectful but a straight shooter! If I leave a dealership with a bad taste in my mouth, I will not return. There is way to competition out there for me to take any nonsense … Please, no disrespect to those who sell cars for a living. My last stop during this (supposedly) feeling out process was on a Wednesday at Bill Kolb Jr. Subaru in Orangeburg, N.Y. From the moment my son & I walked in to this dealership, I felt a strong sense of honesty, professionalism and caring. The place was rocking & rolling as almost every sales consultant had a potential client at their desk. My son & I were greeted by a gentleman namely Sonny Ripp’s. With a last name like Ripp’s, I really didn’t know what to expect. I always set the tone of the conversation “right out of the gate”! Amazingly, Sonny understood where I was coming from. He kindly sat us down & from there on the entire process was handled with "Kid Gloves"! This dealership only had a 5 door WRX STI in stock but their inventory sheet showed that a WRX SI ice silver metallic sedan was in the process of being shipped from Massachusetts. Even knowing that these hard to come by vehicles are "Prime Time", Sonny offered us a great price so we “sealed the deal” that day. The car arrived 1 week later & my son was off and running! Additionally, this past week, I purchased a 2014 Subaru Outback (Premium) for my wife at Bill Kolb Jr. Once again, Mr. Ripps came to the table with an excellent price w/o applying any unnecessary pressure … just pure patience & professionalism. Marty (The “money man” as I call him), has been a pleasure to do work with on both occasions). The 2 sales managers Mo & Joe (Sounds a little like the “Pep Boys”) were also very understanding & supportive. Thanks guys! I can tell you right now, if my family is ever in the market for a Subaru, Bill Kolb Jr. in Orangeburg will be my only stop!! More

My family and I walked around the lot and compared the vehicles alone first. When we were ready we approached the dealer, Howard, and he explained the Subaru vehicle to us. He gave facts about the vehicle and was able to answer questions on the spot. As I was stuck between two specific vehicles he pointed out the differences between both, but again never tried to sway my decision as many sales people try to do. Overall, I was able to purchase a car without dealing with a pushy sales man as I have experienced at other dealerships. I would definitely recommend the dealership and the salesman, Howard, to anyone looking to purchase a new car. More

They weren't pushy and were easy to work with. I drove my new car away already hooked up to my blue tooth as Sam was very thorough in explaining the features and even hi-lited my owners manual with colored tabs for easier access to pertinent information. Very professional. More

I called him and made an appointment and he was ready for me. We test drove the Forester which was as good as advertised! I had done my homework and knew that it was priced well. Sergio walked me through the paperwork with the utmost professionalism. My college roommate and I were laughing and joking and he joined in but never skipped a beat! And even allowed me to take a picture with him! I was on my way to Marty in the finance department in record time, but not before I got a handshake and a kiss on the cheek from Sergio! He did that when I bought my Tribeca too. No wonder I love this dealership! He only gave my husband a hearty handshake when he sold him his Legacy 3 yrs ago! Marty was great about telling me my options in a clear. concise, no nonsense way. And I left feeling like I had been dealt with fairly and feeling Great! My friend is a Honda girl and bought a car from her dealership last year. She noticed how well I was treated and how many of the salesman were seasoned shall we say. She said "I'd rather buy a car from my dad than my brother" That's what I love about this dealership, they have years of experience and take time to listen and that goes a long way! One of the Worst Car Buying Experiences Ever. So i was in the market for another subaru after my mercedes warranty had expired. I did a little research online and heard that they were one of the b So i was in the market for another subaru after my mercedes warranty had expired. I did a little research online and heard that they were one of the best dealers in the area for new and used subarus. My friend also came looking to purchase a new car for him as well. We test drove a Legacy 3.6 (which had a doughnut on it) and as soon as we got out of the car he was asked "ok so you want it?" We werent given 5 minutes to even look around the car and inspect it. We checked the trunk and sure enough there was the tire that was completely fixed. We started on the paperwork and everyone was very nice up until this point... It came to be my time to check out the STI that they had parked out front. I previously poked around outside the car but never got in. Started telling them that is what i was interested in and instantly started getting paperwork started. They dont allow you to test drive STI's for whatever reason. I have heard this before from other dealers so i was ok with it. I decided that it was the car i wanted to purchase. Did all of the financial paperwork and signed for the car. 5 days later we were expected to take delivery on the cars and i got a call the day of about 10 AM saying that the Navigation/radio will not work because someone had stolen the chip out of the dash. I accepted that and continued taking ownership of the vehicle. We went to pick up the cars and neither of them had been prepped or washed inside or out! It was disgusting. They could have at least vaccumed the interior and washed the exterior. After i left the dealer i found out about 4 minutes later that the car was horrible misbalanced (or not balanced at all) as i proceeded on the highway after 50 mph the car was darting hard left into the median. I was fighting with the car to keep in straight and on the road. So after this happened i figured i needed to do much more inspecting on the vehicle. The center console was also broken (obvously not checked) and the car came with no stock floor matts. I called imediatly the next day and had to drive another 45 minutes and tolls to bring the car for them to tell me that it was way out of balance (which i clearly already knew) and that they would order the center console and that they were still waiting for the navigation chip. After all of this i decided that the car was not going to last and i didnt want to be stuck with a 32k dollar paperweight. I have to say that there 30 day return policy is spot on. No questions asked. Althought doing that has SCREWED my credit. The second loan that i tried to get 5 days later came with a much higher interest rate and from a different bank because the first bank no longer wanted to deal with me. I meet the second time with Jeff and he was amazing. The most understanding down to earth person in that dealership. With a 30 day return the next vehicle needs to be equal too or greater than the first one. I saw a 2014 wrx on the website that i know i would like and it was about 2k short of my STI that i bought. Jeff instantly got me out on a test drive and i decided that was the car that i wanted to purchase. They also allowed me to purchase aftermarket parts to get my total up to equal of my last car i bought. I was happy with this transaction. Being an out of state resident buying a car in NY and bringing it to CT they say that they are not sure how much registration in CT will be so they charge everyone 242.50 and say that whatever you pay over they will mail you the difference in a check. Well after about 3 voicemails to jackie i finally got a one on one phone call with her yesterday and expressed my extream dissatisfaction that i have waited over a month and still havent recived the difference of the checks. I have a feeling they do this on purpose hoping that no one finds out or cares about this. They still owe me close to 250$ a month after i have had my registration! To end this review i would say this is my worst car buying experience EVER! i will never go back to this dealer and i will NEVER refer them to anyone that i know. Buy at your own risk. More
