Anthony was a very nice salesman. He knew what I wanted and he worked very hard so that I could drive home in a new car the same day. I would highly recomment Mr. Merchant to anyone who is looking for a Hy and he worked very hard so that I could drive home in a new car the same day. My Mother is 65 this year come fall, and looking forward to retirement. Unfortunately, her current car is a 98 model and needs to be replaced. Two weeks ago I began to help her look for a vehicle. We were to retirement. Unfortunately, her current car is a 98 model and needs to be replaced. Two weeks ago I began to help her look for a vehicle. We were seriously considering the Subaru Outback, but then I remembered that the Hyundai car itself has a great warranty backed up by two of my family members that recently purchased Hyundai’s with no complaints; so online, my Mother decided on the Tucson. We made an inquiry for a quote online and I had a short conversation with a representative and let them know that we were coming in immediately as it was their month end close(30-Mar-13), and they seemed very open to making it happen. When we got there, we viewed the car, etc, then sat down for pricing as they have rebates that you can qualify for. The sales person let us know that Hyundai was not a back and forth kind of place and that she would just go back there and they would accept or deny the offer. We then made an offer for the vehicle at a drive out price for simplicity. The sales person wrote the drive out offer down on the back of the listing for the Tucson we wanted, had my mother initial it, and took it to Anthony Hewitt, the General Sales manager of Ron Carter Hyundai in Friendswood/Clear Lake. Mr. Hewitt accepted the drive out offer and we went to view the specific car/color that My Mom had chosen, with the worst of the visit behind us. They sent the car to get cleaned and we sat down again inside to wait to be seen by the financing personnel. The sales person came back with the invoicing/pricing for the vehicle and it was not the drive out price that Anthony Hewitt had agreed to only 15 minutes earlier, they had added tax title and license to the drive out that THEY had agreed to. We got up and left immediately. On 45 north not 10 minutes after getting in the car, the sales person called me and said that he was now ready to sell us the car for the price he had agreed to previously. I let her know that she should put any price agreement in an email to my Mother (we had already exchanged emails), but that we were already on our way home and wouldn’t be turning around for more verbal agreements or agreements that we can’t prove occurred. She said she’d send the email right away. You will not be surprised to learn that it didn’t make it to my or my Mother’s inbox. It was a pathetic event and Mr. Anthony Hewitt, according to his actions, is a deplorable, amoral, dishonest, unethical , twisted, and unprincipled. He is everything that is wrong with the car business. If his actions are in line with Ron Carter, I would implore anyone reading to avoid purchasing the car from any Ron Carter any where. Because of what transpired, this is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review on anything. I've always felt that some folks are just complainers or have bad attitudes going into a situation. I deeply dislike the fact that I felt it necessary to do this so i'm glad it's over. Here is a brief update. A few days after having this experence we purchased a different make car through a different dealership. A couple days after that we were contacted by Ron Carter Hyundai and offered the car for the price initially agreed upon. I've also been contacted by a Business Development Manager who responded appropriately with an apology. I accept and I'm happy to move on. More
Being a first time buyer of a new car I was very nervous going in. Kilan and the the staff were extremely helpful and made the process very easy for me. I came looking for a good deal on a new car and was told to check out this dealership. I don't usually like going to shop for cars because it can be a long, time consuming thing. However, i must say it was to check out this dealership. I don't usually like going to shop for cars because it can be a long, time consuming thing. However, i must say it wasn't like i thought it would be. First of all, my sales person made it a better experience for me, he was patient with me and seemed very knowledgeable about the car(s). That made a difference to me because it helped me to make an informed decision. I really appreciate the time Mr. White took to help me find the right car for me. I love my new Sonata! More
My son was in an accident and his car was totalled, so while waiting for the check we spoke with Jim and we were up front with everything..rebate qualifications etc. Jim said if we didn't qualify he had while waiting for the check we spoke with Jim and we were up front with everything..rebate qualifications etc. Jim said if we didn't qualify he had money that could be pulled from elsewhere and we would be $ ish of the internet price. We felt great about the experiance and told Jim and Scott we would be back when the insurance check came. Yesterday my son and wife returned to buy the car but after 3 hours of the dance, the price was 1200 more than originally discussed. I was unable to join them since I work in local hospitals and Saturdays ae required. My family called in advance and when asked to speak to Jim they were told he was busy. When they arrived, they were told something different and that he was not there so thay were "helped" by another salesman. This turned what was a great experiance into a very bad experiance. I am not sure where the disconnect occured, but Scott is the only constant in this ordeal so I would have to say he is to blame for a frustrating experiance. It is difficult for me to understand how you sour someone to your dealership after they return with cash! More
