We researcehed a number of cars and dealerships throughout Oregon, and knew that BMW of Portland had a good reputation. We found one of their cars online and purchased it sight unseen (we live in Bend and had not seen the car until the day my wife picked the car up in Portland) The many photos anddetails about the car online, as well as a couple of conversations with matt Palumbo were all we needed to feel secure in our purchase. The car is everything we hoped it would be. Matt was especially helpful, honest and prompt. David is very friendly and not your typical overbearing car salesman. He's more interested in sharing his love of BMWs and finding the perfect fit for clients than just making a sale. I purchased a 2006 530XI wagon from BMW Portland in March 2013 (a great experience I recounted on this site). I knew there was a 60-day dealer warranty, so I was keeping an eye out for any issues. Of course, when something finally DID go wrong, it was on the 70th day. Figures. The button that closes the trunk lid stopped working, so I actually took it to another service provider I've used before. They said the sunroof had leaked water, which had collected in the wheel well where the spare tire and a lot of electronic components are, shorting out the trunk lid controller. They dried out the controller, and the lid started working again, but they quoted me ~$600 to disassemble the affected areas to: 1) clear out the sunroof drains, and 2) dry out any other pooled water. That was when I decided to see what BMW Portland could do, and I'm glad I did! I ended up talking to Ingrid Jackson, and she helped me throughout the entire process. I was expecting some resistance because I'd taken the car to another service provider, and because I was over the 60-day warranty period by almost 2 weeks. But Ingrid assured me that taking care of me and my car was her top priority, and she proceeded to do just that. She scheduled a service date a week out, so that I could get a loaner car, and said they'd do a full diagnostic on the car. When the date came, it was a smooth and easy process to drop my car off and pick up a new 528i loaner. I've never gotten a loaner from any other service provider! After 2 days, I was told that the sunroof drains were clear, but that the seal around the sunroof had failed due to age / wear. They'd replaced it, dried everything out, and tested to make sure there were no more leaks -- all at no charge to me. Ingrid and BMW Portland had followed through on their commitment to make me a happy customer by completing the repair work, even though my dealer warranty had expired. They not only made me happy now, they've won all future service business for both of my cars. As someone who was dreading working with a dealer service department, I can now wholeheartedly recommend BMW Portland to anyone looking for service work. And if you get an opportunity to work with Ingrid, take it! She's fantastic! More
