There’s not much more I could have asked for from the team at BMW Portland! In the end, I got the car I wanted (a used 530XIT) at a very fair price. Along the way, my family and I were treated extremely well by the entire BMW Portland team. Our concerns were addressed clearly, our needs were heard and met, and the arrangements were made based on our preferences. I’m not sure what else you could ask for from a car dealer! If you're interested, here are some specifics about my experience: - I submitted a web inquiry about the car, and ended up communicating via email with Eric Devier. He was very quick to respond to my requests for info, even during off-hours. I appreciated his friendliness, and the fact that he didn’t try to pressure me to come to the dealer. - I coordinated with Eric to stop by on a Friday for a look at the car. He was waiting to greet me, and introduced me to Ian Killough, the Client Advisor who would help me with all things regarding the car. Very nice transition from the Internet team to Sales. - Working with Ian was fantastic! He’s incredibly friendly, extremely knowledgeable about the cars (and not just the BMWs), and was very respectful of my questions, concerns, budget and time, which I really appreciated. He’s also got a great Irish accent. - Ian and I took the car for a test drive, and I loved it. I tried not to show it, since I didn't want Ian to pounce, but he didn't pounce. Matter of fact, he wasn't pushy, at all. I told him I’d like to come back on Sunday with my wife and daughter, and he said that’d be wonderful. I was expecting a, “What is the price that will make you with this car, today?” line, but instead he was happy to do whatever I wanted to do. How refreshing is that! - On Sunday, Ian had everything all set for our test drive, and answered all of our questions as we drove. Once we were done, it was clear that we wanted the car, which meant that we had to brace for the dreaded negotiations. - While we did have to do some of the old-school “Let me take your offer to someone in another office,” business, it actually wasn't too bad. We got within $400 of our price on Ian’s first trip, and agreed to split the difference on the second. All-in-all, a very fair deal. - Once the price was settled, Jim Mertz helped us with the financing and service plan analysis. They have lots of options, and Jim was happy to walk us through all of them. Just be sure to ask about the Lifetime Oil Change plan; it’s the only one we jumped on. - Due to lots of customers in the store, as well as some site construction that forces sales people to walk approximately 3.5 miles to get a printout, the total time we were there was close to 4hrs. When the people we needed were available, things went very quickly and smoothly. While we waited, Ian went out of his way to make us as comfortable as we could be – including finding an empty office for my wife to nurse our daughter, getting some snacks for us, and keeping us well-hydrated with water. Again, Ian and everyone else at BMW Portland really wanted us to have a great experience. - When we finally left, it was in a freshly washed and prepped car with a full tank of gas…and we couldn't be happier! - Oh, and Ian has promised to search out some rubber floor & trunk mats for our new wagon. We were prepared to recommend him before that offer, but that would certainly cement his place at the top of our list for car sales! - And, just to show how everyone got involved with helping, I stopped by the next day to drop off a check and Laurel Kessler, the Sales Manager, came out to the new car to help get my iphone connected via Bluetooth! More
I had a very fun and unique car buying experience with Lee Montgomery. Justifying the BMW was a challenge. I spent the last 9 years with a different brand and was more comfortable continuing with what was familiar. However, Lee was unbelievably patient and did whatever was necessary to put me at ease. He even allowed me to take him on a 45 minute drive to and from work and offered to let me park it at home. It was one of many ridiculous requests, but he never made me feel absurd. I'm sure if I asked, we could have made the journey to the mountain to test out the all wheel drive. I highly recommend working with Lee and the BMW Portland team. He's an excellent representative for the company and couldn't be more attentive. I've had a multitude of interactions with him, and each of them felt genuine. I expect Lee's willingness to help extends well beyond the purchase and lasts thru my life with the car. More
I scheduled an appointment for an oil change services and when i got to BMW of Portland 10 minutes before my appointment and went to check-in they didn't even bother to take my keys and made me sit on a chai when i got to BMW of Portland 10 minutes before my appointment and went to check-in they didn't even bother to take my keys and made me sit on a chair for half hour before I HAD TO GO ASK THEM why they haven't taken my keys. After that it just took them FOREVER... an hour after my scheduled service my car was still in the lot untouched and a bit later a service representative came out and asked what exactly i needed done. Overall the WORST SERVICE at a dealership that I have ever received in my life. Spend a few more minutes and got to kuni instead!!!!! More

One of the best car buying experiences ever. Ian Killough was best salesman I've dealt with, he made what can be a drag(buying a car) into a really fun experience. I went to BMW of Portland to see what i could get as a trade in on my 2000 x5, and to test drive a newer model x5. everyone was very friendly and found me a client advisor right away with very little wait trade in on my 2000 x5, and to test drive a newer model x5. everyone was very friendly and found me a client advisor right away with very little wait. Test drive went great, Ian took me on a road that had a great view of the city. when we came back to see what i could get as a trade in value it was a little low at first, but Ian had talk with the manager George and they were come down on the price of the newer x5 and come up on the trade in value of my 2000 x5. this made me very happy and saved me a couple thousand dollars in the process. I am very happy with my new x5 and will defiantly buy another car from this dealership in the future. More
...very bad, almost shocking experience...went there to buy/lease my first BMW X5 Premium 2013, knowing exactly what I want. They tried first to sell me a X5 available in stock despite my insistence that I buy/lease my first BMW X5 Premium 2013, knowing exactly what I want. They tried first to sell me a X5 available in stock despite my insistence that I'm not interested. We drove to a garage next to dealership and tried to start the car they had (X5 Sport 2012); it took 3-4 attempts which was "minor" for them. Finally I managed to convince the person that I'm not interested in anything else but the X5 '13 premium and we started talking numbers. They gave me the MRSP price with a high money factor and when I tried to negotiate it he checked with his manager then came back saying that I should get the car in stock if I want a discount or accept their first offer for the car I want...and I should be happy with the offer since is my first BMW and buying luxury cars is "totally different". I bought the car in few days from a different dealership in my terms with no hassle and being treated with respect. More

This is our second car purchase from BMW Portland and Ty Vilhauer. We are long-time BMW drivers and (motorcycle) riders and have bought from dealerships across the country. While the BMW dealership network is generally good, we found that BMW Portland stands out in several ways: (1) they have a good selection of models in inventory to compare "hands on"; (2) Ty Vilhauer's product knowledge and ability to "work numbers" in various deal scenarios; and (3) the dealership's organization and process in facilitating the sale and getting you on your way in your new BMW. Overall, we have always left the dealership feeling good about the car we got, the after-sales support, and looking forward to our next visit. More
