I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Volkswagen of Clarksburg. I took my vehicle in for service twice regarding an ongoing check engine light issue, and the problem was never properly addressed.
The first time I took it in was at the end of last year after the check engine light came on about a month after an oil change. After inspecting it, I was told there were no issues. I continued driving the vehicle for months, but the check engine light would intermittently come on and go back off. Eventually, it stayed on more often than not, so I scheduled another service appointment in May.
At that visit, I was told the battery was the issue. I took a day off work, only for it to take over 4 hours just to diagnose and replace a battery. The very next day, the check engine light came back on again. At that point, it was obvious the actual issue had still not been fixed.
I then spoke with someone I know who had similar problems with this location. She told me she had taken her vehicle there multiple times without resolution and ultimately had to go to Morgantown to get the correct diagnosis. Based on her recommendation, I drove my vehicle 40 minutes to Morgantown. Within an hour, they identified the actual issue, wires were cut on the pin connector. Which ultimately happened likely when replacing my battery.
What frustrated me even more was the lack of communication and empathy from the Clarksburg location. I called their answering service on Saturday morning to explain how frustrated I was and expected a return call once they reopened Monday. No one ever contacted me. I finally had to reach back out myself to explain everything that had happened.
It is unacceptable to spend this much time, miss work, make repeated trips for service, and still have to travel to another dealership to get the correct diagnosis. The lack of accountability, communication, and concern for customer frustration was extremely disappointing. Based on this experience, I would not purchase another vehicle from a dealership that handled my concerns this way.
