The absolute BEST car buying experience in decades! Why have I not come here before? Carlsen is EXACTLY what you want buying a car to be like. You go online, do your research and prepare, and ask for a quote for a trade-in on KBB. Or you inquire about a price for something you see in their inventory, and right away I got an email (not a thousand annoying phone calls or texts, or a daily / weekly email blasts), but just a simple one or two emails to see what I was interested in. When I said I wanted no hassel, knew what I wanted, and was miserable in my last two purchases at other dealerships, I got better than VIP pricing (which I also already had approved, but had not yet told them about). The offer was in print, in an email quote. I also let them know I was considering buying from another dealership, and they quickly offered a better trade-in deal (by $1,000, without having seen my car), and then promised to make my transaction as quick and painless as possible. I knew what I wanted, they had it in stock, they washed, detailed and gassed it up before I came to see it and made the ENTIRE transaction in less then 45 min.! The ENTIRE purchase, because they knew what I wanted to put down, they knew I wanted the finance deal for the rest, and they had all the paperwork ready for me when I arrived. SIMPLE, FAST RESPECTFUL, they did not try to sell me some other car, or extras I did not want, AND told me about the additional VIP pricing for the service packages, even if I did not use them as the service provider. They took the time (yes, even the same 45 min.) to go over all the new featues of the car, set-up my bluetooth, and made sure I was happy with my purchase and knew about additional accessories I had mentioned I was interested in. From the sales person, to the manager, to the finance and documents person, everyone was there to greet me and had prepared in advance and worked together as a team to make this pleasant and fast for me. WOW, teamwork! This was even on one of the busiest car buying holiday weekends too! Lastly, this is my 3rd Subaru purchase and will not be my last, but Aaron at Carlsen was the first person to tell me about the ownership badges and sent me the link so I could personalize my car a bit. (Love it!) Then he followed up a little while after my purchase to see if I was happy, and indeed I am! So much better then my past two experiences at Putnam Subaru, I could NOT believe it. We will be buying our next car next year from here and sending my family members here too! Thanks Carlsen and Aaron, I finally did not hate (and yes, even loved) my car buying experience!! I would give you 10 stars if I could.

This is the fourth Subaru that I have purchased from this dealership. Each time, I have received excellent service. Jose Cruz was the salesperson this time, and he was attentive and professional. He answered all my questions and immediately connected with his manager, and all the communication was useful and honest. This was not a hard sell, it was an informed sell. The transaction was efficient, and all the sales staff involved were honest and cared about us as people, not just customers.

Because we were completing Our paperwork so late 11:30 pm, he Rod came back into work on his day off the collect some paperwork that we did not have the night before. I cannot remember the finance manager’s name but he was very helpful and polite and he also stayed late to help us complete our paperwork. When I came back in the following day Rod introduced me to Paeli who will do my walk through of my new Forester in the future. She too was kind and knowledgeable and I look forward to meeting with her to go over any questions I have about our new car as it has a lot of bells and whistles. Bought a preowned crosstrek from this dealer a week ago even before we left after all paperwork and they washed the car and getting it ready to deliver, spotted a nail in the rear tire. Took it home the car stayed in the garage over the weekend we found out one of the head light was not working. So we brought the car back on the way there, I spotted a tiny chip on the passenger side of the windshield. The headlight was having electrical issues which in the warranty. They refused to fix the chip claiming that they inspected the car before listing it. If they did a thorough inspection as they claimed, why didn’t they see the headlight and the nail issues?

This is the second time I’ve purchased a vehicle from Subaru of San Luis Obispo. And I’ll tell you why. Historically, going to dealerships to shop for cars has always been a bit of a nightmare. The moment you walk onto the lot, you get a pushy salesperson in your face. And they don’t really listen to you when you tell them what you’re looking for. And when you get to the point of purchasing the vehicle, it’s a negotiating circus and takes hours to get completed with Financing. Not the case at Subaru of San Luis Obispo. The sales expert, Layton Crittendon, was very easy going and knowledgeable. And he listened to what I was looking for, answered all my questions, and was able to make some great suggestions. I knew I was dealing with a true expert and the final result was that I got an even better offer than what I was expecting. He even suggested that I could probably qualify to lease the vehicle and he was correct! And the Finance Manager, Peter Fiallos, did a great job finding me the best loan offer for my new 2025 Forester. There wasn’t the whole back and forth negotiating of terms you’d expect from most dealerships. It was straightforward and clear. I did mention this was the second time I’ve purchased a vehicle here, and it’s because the first time went the same way. If you love Subaru’s as much as I do, and want a good experience where you’re treated like a valued customer, I highly recommend purchasing your next Subie from Subaru of San Luis Obispo. I know I will.

I was treated very well, everything happened so fast, I felt a little whelm with the explaining of paper work. I wanted a payment closer to 400 dollars and I am now with a payment of 526.00 this is a bit pricey because I have to take in account the payment for auto insurance which I didn’t expect to be so high. I was treated nice, but like I said it was all so fast, the coverage for the windshield was pushed somewhat and now that I think about it, auto insurance includes coverage.
