I recently leased a new vehicle from Volkswagen of Downtown Chicago and had a disappointing experience related to billing and customer service. I was told by the dealership staff that although my last Downtown Chicago and had a disappointing experience related to billing and customer service. I was told by the dealership staff that although my last payment on my previous lease might be processed, I should pay it, and they would reimburse me directly to avoid any issues with my credit. Over a week later, I noticed that my old car was still listed on my account, and VW Credit informed me that they could not halt the payment because the car hadn't been officially checked in (even though the dealership had received it 10 days before the payment was due). For over a week, I tried calling the dealership to clarify next steps, but my calls would either go to a voicemail that was disconnected, or I was told someone would call me back—no one ever did. When I finally visited the dealership in person, I was informed they could not reimburse me as previously promised, and I was left to resolve the issue on my own. This experience has left me feeling misled and unsupported, both in terms of communication and resolution. I hope the dealership improves its transparency and responsiveness for future customers. I am writing this review to warn others. This dealership held my girlfriend's car for FIVE FULL DAYS to repair a single damaged rim and tire. The delay itself was unreasonable, but the complete lack of communication was appalling. We were given no updates, no timeline, and were left in the dark. When she finally went in person to politely inquire about the excessive delay, the manager, Fred, responded by threatening to call the police on her for simply asking a question. This is not how you treat customers. The service experience was horrific, unprofessional, and frankly, intimidating. We will never return and advise you to steer clear unless you enjoy being ignored and then threatened when you ask for basic information. More
