Unfortunately, I have to give VW Downtown Chicago a low rating. After my previous Volkswagen was totaled, I was excited about the opportunity to purchase another one. I submitted an inquiry through my bank, and the dealership contacted me almost immediately. They repeatedly reached out and assured me that the vehicle I was interested in was available and that I would be able to see it that day. In fact, the follow-up was so frequent that I assumed the vehicle was definitely on-site and ready to view. When I arrived, I was asked to wait in a back office. After more than 30 minutes, the only interaction I had was someone briefly collecting my ID. No one checked in with me or provided an update. After approximately 35 minutes, I informed them that I was ready to leave because it became apparent that the vehicle was not actually available, despite being told it was only "two minutes away." The salesperson did apologize, but the situation resulted in a significant waste of time, including my commute to the dealership. Had they been transparent from the beginning and explained that the vehicle was not on-site, we could have coordinated a more appropriate time for me to visit. What was most concerning was the lack of honesty and communication. It gave me the impression that the dealership was willing to say whatever was necessary to get me through the door. I was also told the vehicle had just come out of a body shop, but no clear explanation was provided as to why it had been there, which further impacted my confidence in the process. My overall experience was disappointing and left me feeling that I could not fully trust the information I was being given. Would not recommend based on this experience. More
