I told Melavante that we were really interested in this vehicle but after doing some research was concerned about the reliability of the radiator and transmission. I said that I would only consider purchasing the vehicle if the radiator was replaced. He spoke to his manager and service department and said that they would accommodate my request. I proceeded that day to drive the 100 miles or so to the dealer for a test drive. Melvante had most of the paperwork and already done by the time we got to the dealer. We took the car for a test drive and it was exactly what we wanted. We picked the car up two days later after the new radiator had been installed. The dealership loaned us a car while the radiator change was being done. All in all the best car buying experience I have ever had. More

This was my first experience purchasing a car. I have been searching online and through several dealerships but had not found the car for me. She spent countless hours answering my questions and parents questions. I had a car in less than three days. She made me feel like she was solely working for me. My experience at Volkswagen Santa Monica today could not have gone better. A service advisor named JD came out to help me as soon as I arrived and was as friendly and helpful as anyone could be. After searching for weeks for a good quality, reliable, safe, used car, I was fortunate to have recently purchased a mint condition, 2002 Volvo V70 Wagon (1 owner/32K miles) from VW of Santa Monica. Whenever it comes to car buying and dealing with "dealers", it tends to not sit well in my gut, having some bad or mediocre experiences in the past. I have to say out of all the dealerships and reps I have dealt with, VW of Santa Monica goes to the top in terms of Customer Service and professionalism. Keep in mind this is NOT exclusively comparing to the bad/mediocre car buying experiences, rather comparing to ANY sort of buying experience, whether it is electronics, appliances, etc. etc. I am comparing to overall Customer Service experience, regardless of the product or service. In my case, I did not want to get into a new car that would quickly depreciate the moment you drive it off the lot, not to mention high insurance costs and high monthly payments. I had a limited budget to work with, so it limited the types of cars I had to choose from. What better place to do searches than the Internet, with sites such as cars.com, autotrader.com, carsdirect.com, carmax.com, and lacarguy.com. At first, it was purely based on price point, then results filtered for make/model, and most importantly, reliability. I used kbb.com, consumerreports.com and edmunds.com to further research any potential cars I was interested in. Hence, they pointed me in the direction of the used Volvo line of cars, based on all of those factors. To add another element to the mix, my profession is very much affected by economic conditions, and these past few years has taken it's toll on us financially. Needless to say, we were able to have Mike, Bridget, and Claire, all work diligently on our behalf to get us financed and in our car within days from my first email inquiry. I will, no doubt, provide a positive recommendation to any friends, family, and colleagues, as well as give them my business again.
