So I purchased a Ford Escape from them 3 years ago and paid it off successfully, no problem except for a horrible service center that could not properly fix my car between two of their locations. I cosign paid it off successfully, no problem except for a horrible service center that could not properly fix my car between two of their locations. I cosigned another car 18 months ago (yes they let me have two loans at the same time stupid me)! If Im one day late they treat me as if they never received a payment from me. I pulled my credit report at after I paid off my escape to see how much JD Byrider helped to improve my credit. To my surprise over a 15 month period they have pulled an inquiry on me over 10 times on all three reports!!! Sadly, I waited to see if they would mail me the title to my car. They made me drive across town to pick it up. When you JD Byrider or CNAC RUN!!!! More

I don't understand what everyone complains about with jd byrider obviously when you walk into jd byrider its because you've been turned down everywhere else. First of all yeah the cars are double what th jd byrider obviously when you walk into jd byrider its because you've been turned down everywhere else. First of all yeah the cars are double what they are worth but the car I purchased is the nicest one I've ever owned.. they work with you and won't do the deal unless they know you can afford it... the first 30 days they fix anhthing for free and 2 years after that it costs 50 bucks for just about anything.. my credit was 555 when I walked in there and they treated me with nothing but respect. They wouldn't sell me the car I really wanted but I'm glad they didn't because it didn't fit my budget. I have had the car for a week now and I did have a problem with the sway bar but they fixed it no problem. Even offered to have it alligned before the 30 days. We will see of they are sneaky about the payments but so far its pretty straight forward pay your bill up your credit and there will be no issue. I like jd byrider and witbout them I'd probably be waiting for tax season to get another beater. More

I recently bought a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am at JD Byrider and in retrospect, it was the worst mistake of my life. I have only had the car for 6 months and the breaks already went bad within the first month, and in retrospect, it was the worst mistake of my life. I have only had the car for 6 months and the breaks already went bad within the first month, I needed a front end alignment within the 2end month and by month 6, what I thought was just a simple radiator flushing being needed turned out to be a messed up head gasket. So when I put everything into perspective, spending 12K on a 2003 car that already had 108,000 miles on it from JD byrider was a terrible idea. More
I have never heard of JD. I applied for an online preapproval for mcgrawth and some how I got a phone call from Jd. They apparently made an appointment with me so I was completely lost when they call preapproval for mcgrawth and some how I got a phone call from Jd. They apparently made an appointment with me so I was completely lost when they called for an appointment reminder. When they talked to me I asked if they had online pre approval. They said no and the guy went on and on over their approval process. He kept saying "you know" over and over. I listened for about 5 minutes and hung up. It didn't seem right and I have little patience. So afterwards I was looking up information reading reviews and very happy I didn't mess with them :-) More
Ok well my boyfriend needed a car for work. We didn't really have a lot of money to work with so we went to J.D Byrider in Merrillville Indiana. Rick helped us fill out our application we did nee didn't really have a lot of money to work with so we went to J.D Byrider in Merrillville Indiana. Rick helped us fill out our application we did need to give 12 references which is a lot but we did anyways. So after filling out everything we went into a room with a guy and started talking about what bills we had each month and whatever else we needed to spend money on every month. We then were told my boyfriend was approved he made a down payment of $250.00. Rick first pulled out a 06 town and country we told him that's not really what we had in mind. We then looked around and spotted a 06 PT Cruiser we liked. He got us the key and let us test drive it for about a hour its ran smooth gas was pretty good on it no problems. We brought it back and told him this is the car we wanted. He said its usually $1000 down but he let us take it for just $250. We are making 4 payments of $275 Bi-weekly then after that $198 Bi-weekly for 3 years. We had no issues that were stated on some of these post there were other customers that were in there that had been there before and they said they never had a issue with their car. We were there for about 2 hours test driving multiple cars and just looking around they had a decent selection all from "00" and newer. So after signing everything we left and have had the car for about almost 12 hours and everything seems nice and sound his uncles are mechanics and looked under the hood and said everything checked out. I don't know about every JDB but here in Indiana they were nice and really helped us out yeah I know after paying it off we could only sell it for half that amount but we need a car. All used cars are going to have issues hopefully and god willing this one won't die anytime soon at least until after we pay it off and can improve his credit to get a new car. More
I purchased vehicle. Within the first month I noticed rubbing/ scrubbing sounds. I take it back to their service department to be looked at I was told it rides like a luxury vehicle. When did luxury vehi rubbing/ scrubbing sounds. I take it back to their service department to be looked at I was told it rides like a luxury vehicle. When did luxury vehicles start making sounds due to their luxury features?.... Never! Unless, it needs service. I set up auto pay. I was harassed every scheduled payday for the 3 months stating my payment was late. I go to the dealership to resolve the issue at least I thought it was resolved only to find out they dropped the ball. It was never entered into their system so they say after I made a couple cash payments they decide to withdraw money out of my account. The Finance Manager had the gall to bring me the contract I signed for auto pay with an attitude. Now, if this auto pay was successful from the start I wouldn't be at your dealership asking, What is the Problem? The Manager felt the need to get Feminine with me after I asked for my receipt for my transaction. He asked for my ID for my receipt. I didn't have to show my ID on my last payment. SMH More
I really just wanted to visit this dealership in Durham NC. I saw an ad on TV late at night and it sounded convincing & it seemed like a way that maybe I could get a vehicle. I am already a very savvy car NC. I saw an ad on TV late at night and it sounded convincing & it seemed like a way that maybe I could get a vehicle. I am already a very savvy car buyer, due to being ripped off in the past by a dealership that catered to someone with my credit rating. Over the last 5 years that I've been without a vehicle, I've done a lot of research on how finance companies cater to those with less than perfect credit, and cut them raw deals that usually leave them upside down in vehicles. Their methods usually hurt people more than doing ANY GOOD for them. I've bought and owned 3 new cars, but never paid attention to the figures that I was being charged. For 2 of the cars, I was charged outrageous interest fees due to my less than perfect credit. The last car I bought, I ended up losing to repossession, because I lost my job in 2008 and couldn't afford to finish paying for it. Mind you I was only a few payments away from it being paid off. I felt it was actually already paid off, because I had paid on it for 5 years already. I was heartbroken, as I had never lost a car before. But the recession caused a lot of folks to lose vehicles, houses, jobs, etc. I was already convinced I would not allow anyone else to cause me to be upside down with a vehicle due to them charging me exorbitant fees. So, I saw a commercial late at night for JD Byrider and decided that I would fill out their very simple loan app online. I received a phone call from someone named Dwight the very next morning, as I was heading out the door to catch the bus to go to work. I let Dwight know I didn't have a lot of time to talk, so he very quickly gave me the details of what I would need to bring with me and asked when I could come in. This was on a Friday morning, so I said, if I could find a ride to the dealership I would come on Saturday morning. Well, he sounded so convincing about being able to work within my income limitations and get me into a car I could afford; that I decided to ask a co-worker that I was friends with for a ride to the dealership, after I got done with work. So, she drops me off at the dealership, but I ask her to stay close by in the vicinity, in the event I don't come out with a vehicle. First we drove around the dealership lot and noticed there weren't a lot of cars in the lot. So, we were like, what kind of dealership is this? And plus what I saw on the lot didn't look very enticing. I actually had a bad feeling about the place, and almost told my girlfriend to just keep rolling and I wouldn't even bother to go in. But I felt like, well, she was nice enough to bring me all the way out here, so let me at least go in and check out their story. As I was going in, another salesperson was handing keys to an elderly couple. They looked all happy about getting a car, so I was convinced that I should just go ahead still and check out the situation. I figured, Hey that could me coming out smiling and happy with a car. So, I go in and one of the salespersons is on the phone and says he'll be with me in a minute. So, after he finished with his phone call, he asked if he could help me. I said yes, are you Dwight? And he said yes, so I sat down in his chair. So, he started explaining how they operate and started going into his spiel and I happened to look down at his name plate and it said Duane. So, I said, Wait a minute! Your name is Duane, not Dwight? And he said, yes, I thought you asked if I was Duane. And I said, well, I came here to talk to Dwight. Now mind you, Dwight was right behind him and within earshot and never even looked up when I came in. So, that should have been a red flag right there. So, anyway, I sit down with Dwight he finally recalls speaking to me and he goes into the spiel. After the flip card presentation, which I found rather strange and robotic, he hands me 3 sheets of paper to fill out. All this without me even looking at a single car. Or knowing how the heck much any of their vehicles are or if they even had a vehicle I would be interested in buying. So, then he says I would do a test drive without the salesman (Again, very strange. Traditional dealerships don't do this). So, I laughed and said, What, you all don't trust how customers drive? Is that the reason you let them do test drives by themselves? So, he asks to see my driver's license, my paycheck stub, mail with my name and address and other proofs of income. He makes copies of all of this stuff and then goes and gives it to his finance manager. Now, mind you we still haven't discussed price of a vehicle, nor have I even been shown any vehicles to look at. Now, in other situations and dealerships, they allow you to look around the lot at what they have, and if you find something you're interested in, then you go in and discuss price and how much you can put down and yada, yada, yada. So, anyway to make a long story short, I go in with the finance manager and he starts discussing my finances. He asks how much would I like my car note to be each month, I say around $200 or $250, because I know that's about all I can afford. Then he says, well, most of our notes are in the mid $360s. So, I say well, I can't afford that. So, he seems to want to work with the $250 range. I ask him how long would the note be for, as I didn't want to be in anything for more than 24 months (really only 12 mos). And he says, a little less than 4 years. So, I ask about interest rate, he says 20%. By now he's getting irritated, because he realizes he doesn't have the average customer in his office. He has an educated consumer who has been burned before and wasn't about to get burned again. So, now he becomes short with his responses. Especially, after I say, well I know of Buy Here, Pay Here dealerships that don't charge doc fess or finance fees. And apparently he didn't hear what I said, because his rather agitated retort was, yeah, and those dealerships charge you 29% interest. We don't charge that much! So, I repeat that no, there are dealerships that don't charge you any fees, other than the price of the car, tax, title and tag fees. So, as he was talking to me, I was trying to fill out a reference form they gave me, which they wanted 12 references. I told them I didn't have 12, but I would list as many as I could. So, after finding out that for a vehicle that they would charge me $11,000 to $13,000 for, that I would end up paying back an additional $4800 to $5800, I politely declined the offer and asked to terminate the conversation, as I wasn't interested in doing business with them at those terms and rates. So, he was trying to get me to sign some sheet of paper stating I was applying for the loan and I refused to do it. He told me I had to, and I asked him why if I wasn't planning on buying from them? He said because we have to keep it with all your other paperwork. We keep it on file for 5 years or in case you wanted to come back later. I'm thinking, why would I ever want to come back here for a car loan? So, I refused to sign the paper and I also did not give him my sheet with the references on it. I told him I didn't feel comfortable giving him names, addresses and phone numbers of my relatives, if I wasn't going to do business with them. So, he told me I could keep the sheet. But he still wanted me to sign off on the other sheet, and I still refused to sign the other sheet, which he thought he could coerce me into signing. And after I walked out of the office, I went back in to give him back his pen and noticed the sheet was signed. So, I said to him, I know you're not forging my signature? And he said, why would I risk my job to do something like that? So, I said well, I hope you're not and I walked out. I just assumed he must have signed his own name, since there was a spot for him to do so. I wish I had just ripped that sheet up while I had it in my hand, but I figured I didn't sign it, so there shouldn't be anything he could do with it. I would not SUGGEST anyone do business with this establishment. I feel they prey on people who are in a desperate situation financially. And if you are not aware of all the tricks that finance companies use, you will get reeled into a very bad deal. I don't know what the quality of the cars are, nor did I want to go through a bad experience finding out. I've had enough of that, thank you very much. But you're better off finding a lot that doesn't charge doc fees or finance fees. They are out there, though they are few and far between. They will sell you a car closer to what it's worth, and only require you to do a short-term loan to pay it back. Places like JD Byrider, are only trying to make exorbitant amounts of cash off of your misfortune. I will never, ever go back there. So, BUYER BEWARE and stay away from THERE!!!!!!!!!! You've been warned!!!!! More
