I have spent the last several years researching the market of available minivans before deciding to move forward with the purchase of a 2014 Odyssey after the announcements this Spring. The original p market of available minivans before deciding to move forward with the purchase of a 2014 Odyssey after the announcements this Spring. The original plan had been to wait until the end of the year to allow supply to increase and demand to calm down. However, due to some recent developments we needed to accelerate our time table to purchase a vehicle before the 15th of this month. Having done my research, I knew that the first vehicles would be hitting lots the first week of July. I called somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 Honda dealerships in Massachusetts looking for a vehicle that would meet our needs, looking as far out as Springfield. After spending the better part of the four solid days on the phone, I collected three competitive bids for the vehicle and our trade in (a 2005 Honda CR-V). All of the bids were competitive, coming to within less than $200 dollars of each other, so in the end the choice was made very easy as a result of the excellent customer experience provided by Edgar Monterrosa. From our first interaction, Edgar stood out positively from the other dealership representatives I had worked with. Many of the representatives I spoke with insisted that there was no way we would see a 2014 model before September and tried to sell me a 2013 model. Others failed to follow up in a timely manner despite my clear communication that I was interested in committing to a vehicle purchase in the next 24-72 hrs. Edgar worked swiftly to verify my assertion that the vehicles were now (or very soon would be) available. He followed up shortly thereafter to verify that a vehicle matching our specification was arriving later in the week. I explained my intention to bid out the purchase to a small number of dealerships with the intent of moving forward by the end of the day; Edgar was the first to return with a formal quote despite being the last representative I contacted. He followed up proactively throughout the process, expertly walking the fine line between being persistent and overbearing. When we made the decision to move forward with Honda Village the great customer experience continued. Due to the aforementioned circumstances, we were pushed into the suboptimal position of bringing in our two young boys (3 and 5) in one hour before closing to complete the transaction. The excellent playroom kept the boys occupied while Barry Teicholz prepared the financials of the transaction. Barry worked hard to get us out the door in a timely manner which allowed us to handle the inevitable meltdown of the boys in the privacy of our own home instead of on the floor of the dealership. Throughout the entire process Edgar and the rest of the team at Honda Village were professional and cheerful despite the less than ideal conditions that were presented. More

I had to wait at I had a very bad experience with Honda Village. First, the finance manager (Ivaylo Petrov) tried to rush me into making decisions. I had to wait at the dealership for more than 3 hours before he was able to come up with the best rate that he could get for me. The rate was much higher than I expected with my credit score (795) and he tried to convince me that is a good rate. I asked him whether he was able to find better rates for me, but he told me he did not have enough time and the branch was closing. I wanted to wait for the next day and make my decision since the rate was so high; and he told me that if I did not make a decision that day then the vehicle price I was offered will be voided. I felt that I was forced to make a decision..... After a few months, I finally have time to go to my bank and see what rate they could offer. Just for your references, the new APR is half of the rate that Honda Village got me. On that same day, Ivaylo then tried to sell me a bunch of additional coverage offered by the dealership. Again, he gave me maybe 8 different things. He explained it very briefly and forced me to make a decision right away. He told me I could not get any of these coverage the moment I drove off the car. I picked one of the coverage, but after I went home and read the coverage more carefully, it was not the same as what Ivaylo described to me in the dealership. There were many limitations that he purposely avoided telling me. Second, I also had problems with David Rodriguez, the General Sales Manager. A few days after I purchased the car, someone from Honda American Company called me and asked me to rate my dealership experience. I, of course, did not give Honda Village the best rating. After another week, I had some problems with the car. The car has roughly 50 miles on it. I gave the dealership a call and got transferred to David. He told me he could not help me because he received my review from Honda American Company. Since I did not give them a good review, he refused to help me. I tried to tell him why I gave such ratings. He was not listening and he even yelled at me on the phone for 20 minutes. At the end, I asked him to calm down and even apologized to him because he did not receive bonuses due to this review. He just hung up on me. I would not recommend Honda Village to anyone. More

I initially came into contact with Honda Village/Jim Samson in my quest to find a low-mileage, certified pre-owned Honda Insight. I found one and for the right price, and over the course of a couple of Samson in my quest to find a low-mileage, certified pre-owned Honda Insight. I found one and for the right price, and over the course of a couple of weeks, Jim and I corresponded about this car and others. But it was gone before I could come down for a test drive, as my wife and I were closing on a house and the timing was never right for me to come down. I was kind of disappointed because this seemed like a great deal. But Jim was resourceful enough to propose a surplus, brand new 2012 Insight at a discounted price. I hadn't considered last year's model as an option, but compared to other low-mileage CPO Insights, it seemed like a great deal. So I scheduled an appointment, verified that the price and car were still available, and went on down to meet Jim. Jim's a great guy -- very pleasant, easy going, personable, and not at all your stereotypical car salesmen. He was no-pressure throughout the process. We went for a test drive and Jim was knowledgeable about this particular car, answering all my and my wife's questions. Upon return, we went to a workstation and chatted a little bit. He asked, "What do you think?" and "Do you want to move forward?", which I appreciated. When I told him that I had shopped for quotes at other dealerships and shared what they were willing to do for me, I asked what he'd be willing to do for me to keep me there. So we talked numbers and pricing for a bit, and eventually settled at the fair-market value for a surplus 2012 Honda Insight base. We had a deal. After all the paperwork, we went to the business office where I was given the option to purchase additional coverage. I opted for the tire and rim coverage, and considered the extended warranty. When it appeared that I wouldn't opt for it, the business manager (can't remember his name) lowered my interest rate even lower to make it work for me. "How cool!" I thought. Another dealership said they couldn't do any better than their initial rate, and I was pleasantly surprised to see Honda Village do just that. This was my second new-car buying experience, and thanks to the friendly, no-pressure, honest experience I had with Honda Village and Jim Samson, I actually bought a car this time. I left the dealership feeling like I got a really great deal on a really great car, and highly recommend anyone looking for a new or CPO Honda to visit Jim Samson at Honda Village in Newton. More
