I found the perfect vehicle for my family from this dealership's inventory - I learned about the "recon lot." The sales process was all good until we started the paperwork. I was told that some things that cost extra were required by the dealership for the purchase. I questioned my sales rep, who insisted they were required, so I decided to wait until I saw the paperwork. When we sat with the finance manager, things got weird. I read (yes, I read) the terms on these so-called required items and discovered they were NOT required; I was opting into them. The finance manager was of zero help, and I felt he was playing me. He even used the line that he "couldn't make any changes to what is listed on the computer," but moments later, he changed the agreement after my sales rep went and "talked to the manager." Ultimately, I got out of both required items, and we purchased the vehicle. I left the dealership feeling unhappy and uneasy about working with this group - did I sign a deal I will regret? That's what was running through my mind as I left. I'm sure all dealerships have sales tactics to make a few extra bucks here and there; I get it; they are in business to make money. But those who can do it ethically and not make me feel had will get my business next time. I really like my new vehicle. Just be on your guard when you get to the transaction phase of the purchase. Don't let them "tell you" how it has to be; you are still in charge. More
